Our Shine Bright today was a warm one but The Link was wonderfully cool.

Our theme was water and the children enjoyed a range of activities including making fishes, boats, sea pictures and sea cakes as well as having a splash in the water tray!!

We used the lighthouse from our last JClub day at Providence Methodist Church to talk about how Jesus looks after us like He looked after his friends in the storm. And how we’re can shine His light for all to see

Thank you to all who helped, prayed and supported the event.

For some reason, the scheduled Pentecost post didn’t go live. I’m so sorry!!

So here is Pentecost +2!

Pentecost is the moment the church moved from waiting to walking, from fear to power, from gathered to sent. It is the day ordinary people became bold witnesses.

It is the day the church was born.

And it all began in an upper room with a group of believers who were simply waiting for the promise of Jesus.

Acts 1:8 says:
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses…”

Jesus didn’t tell them to go until He first told them to wait.
Pentecost reminds us that God equips before He sends.

Many believers today feel the same tension — wanting to serve God but feeling underqualified, overwhelmed, or unsure. Pentecost teaches us that God never asks us to do His work without His power.

Before Pentecost, Peter denied Jesus to a servant girl.
After Pentecost, he preached to thousands with courage and clarity.

What changed?
Not Peter’s personality — Peter’s power source.

The Holy Spirit.

Heavenly Father,
We thank You for the gift of Pentecost — for the wind that fills us, the fire that purifies us, and the Spirit who empowers us. Today we remember that the same power that moved in the upper room is still moving in Your people.

Lord, let Your Spirit fall on us again.
Fill every empty place.
Revive every weary heart.
Ignite every calling that has grown dim.
Make us bold witnesses in our homes, our workplaces, and our communities.

Holy Spirit, guide our steps, shape our words, and strengthen our faith.
Where there is fear, bring courage.
Where there is division, bring unity.
Where there is weakness, bring power.
Where there is hesitation, bring holy confidence.

As we leave this place, let us carry the fire of Pentecost with us — not as a memory, but as a mission.
Send us out with compassion, conviction, and clarity.
Let Your presence go before us, Your power work within us, and Your glory shine through us.

Come, Holy Spirit.
Fill Your church again.
Use us for Your kingdom and Your glory.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Today we have looked at Moses being left as a baby in the bulrushes and being found by the daughter of the Pharaoh (Exodus 2 vs 1-10). We also sung ‘Safe in the Father’s hands’.

Before Moses was the man standing in front of a burning bush, before he would perform miracles and defy Pharaoh, before he stormed his people across the Red Sea, received the Ten Commandments, and led his people this close to the Promised Land, Moses was just a baby in a basket floating down the river. A baby who was condemned to die. A baby who was given up by his mother because his chances were better floating on the river than staying at home. A baby who was marked for elimination because of where he was from, what his name was, and what he looked like.

Not a cheery start, let’s be honest. But his path and God’s plan for him was amazing! Moses’ mother must have spent many nights praying for guidance and she trusted God to keep her baby safe. What faith is that?!

Our children drew Moses in the bottom of cupcake cases (our baskets) and drew round their hands to make bulrushes. We added the bulrushes to a box and hid our baskets in there (we did it with water too but weren’t brave enough to leave it out after it was finished with!!) Our hand bulrushes reminded us that Moses was safe in the Father’s hands and so are we.

Cup your hands together and look at them. We see this image for prayer, for faith, for various things religious. It might even look like a basket to keep things safe. See where I’m going with this?! Moses was put in a basket because it was thought to be the safest thing to do, which is incredibly sad really. But we know God kept Moses safe. And God will keep us safe even when we feel like things are falling apart or are too difficult.

Let’s pray.
Heavenly Father,
We thank you that you kept Moses safe and sent him on to great things despite him not really wanting to! We ask that you keep us safe and look after us when we are struggling or scared.
In your name we pray,
Amen.

I’ve really been challenged by smallchurchministry in the last few days. I’m working thorough their podcasts, their emails, their website and everything I can get my hands on!!

LCC is a small church, there is no getting around that. But we still want the same as a bigger church - to worship and praise God. And while there are loads of challenges associated with being a small church, there are also so many blessings!

And so I thought I’d ask you a question in line with their first podcast:

Why do you think a small church is awesome?! And in turn, what makes LCC special?

Pop your answers below. I’d love to be able to do a post with all our positives on 🙏❤️
