Not been to Church recently? Or perhaps never been? Or maybe looking for a new church in the Tamar Valley area? Whichever it is, we’d like to welcome you to Tamar Valley to give us a try, get to know us
, and find out what it is we do and believe. Church has changed a lot over the years, and although we still have some traditions, we have lots of new things too- including a modern new building and facilities, built when five small chapels had the vision to combine, sell up and build a new building suitable for God's mission in this generation. But the church is the people, not the building, and we have a great fellowship at Tamar Valley. We believe Jesus came to show us how to love God and love each other, so much of what we do is caring for others, including those who are ill or just having a hard time. Martyn Smith visits many local schools and residential/nursing homes in the area in addition to his pastoral visiting and we support several charities and good causes locally and internationally,including Callington Foodbank. Our part time minister, Revd. David Stolton also has a Pharmacy in Plymouth and is very involved in the community and in developing worship and outreach. The Church is well used as a venue for meetings by the church and other community groups and we often enjoy meals and fellowship together. We also now employ a Circuit Family and Youth Worker (the other Churches in the Circuit are Callington, Stoke Climsland and St. Dominic), to assist our ministers and volunteers in outreach to families, children and young people in the area. Morag has previously worked with a schools hip-hop mission band, L.E.D. and also brings skills from a Music Theatre Degree to her job! Morag also led worship for our contemporary service, Reality TV which has now combined, for the time being with Callington MC to have a contemporary worship there once a month.. We have a Bible Study and Fellowship on Tuesdays at 7.30 pm, and Open Door, for tea and a chat at 10.30-11.30 every Thursday a fitness class on Tuesday mornings and a youth choir on Friday nights. There is a very active prayer walking group who walk around the community praying for people, schools and businesses as they walk, whilst also meeting others from the area. Why not come along one Sunday at 10.30 a.m.? We have worship which includes both new and old styles, and children are very welcome. Alternatively, once a month on the third Sunday at 6.30pm join us at Callington Methodist Church for a contemporary, more informal service with an excellent worship band testimony and a socially relevant Biblical message.
