Diocese of Guildford

Diocese of Guildford The Diocese of Guildford is the Church of England in most of Surrey and North East Hampshire. The Church is people.

We support 156 parishes and 82 church schools - Posts mainly by the Comms team see > http://goo.gl/t5cufJ There’s a lot happening in the Church of England across the parts of Surrey, N.E.Hampshire, the London Borough of Kingston and West Sussex embraced by the Diocese of Guildford. More specifically, it’s the people of Christ, and our 212 church buildings see over 25,000 of them worshipping on an

average Sunday. In addition, many thousands more of all ages – and who are much harder to count - use those same buildings or neighbouring Church halls on weekdays. The Church of England has always been at the forefront of social provision and that has not changed today. The Church of England in our Diocese is a quietly significant influence in civil society. That’s not surprising when we consider its close links to over 90 local schools and its 273 licensed clergy and chaplains all seeking to be what Jesus called ‘salt and light’ in the service of parishes, hospitals, schools and prisons. But those who really need to be highlighted are among the enormous host of other workers and willing volunteers who give their time so freely. They enable worship, education, music, youth and children’s work, plus a range of social projects to facilitate and brighten human lives in rural and urban settings across the Diocese.

We're so grateful for two generous donations to our Hear Here project!

£7,000 from the Haslemere Challice Community Fund and the Elder Companionship Fund, awarded via the Community Foundation for Surrey, and £10,000 from The Hospital Saturday Fund, will help us support more people with accessible hearing aid maintenance, especially older and isolated residents.

With 1 in 6 people in Surrey experiencing hearing loss, this support makes a real difference. Thank you for your trust in our work.

Our prayers are with the victim, his family and the whole university community at this time.

We are deeply saddened to hear of yesterday’s incident at the University of Surrey.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the member of staff who has been injured, and we pray for their strength, healing, and full recovery. We also hold in our prayers their family, friends, colleagues, students, and all those affected by what has happened.

Guildford Cathedral offers its heartfelt support and care to the University of Surrey and the wider community at this time.

Our doors are open to anyone who needs to come.

Around 200 clergy from across the Diocese of Guildford recently gathered for their Triennial Conference — a special time to pause, pray, learn and be encouraged together.

Over three days, there was space for worship, teaching, rest and friendship — a chance to step back from the demands of ministry and reflect on how God is calling His Church forward in a changing world.

The theme “Rooted & Reaching: Church for a Changing World” reminded everyone of the importance of staying grounded in faith while finding new ways to share the good news with those around us.

There were powerful moments of prayer, including a time of laying hands on Bishop Paul as he steps into this season of leadership — a moment he described as deeply moving.

With inspiring Bible teaching and conversations about how churches can connect with people in different ways, the conference encouraged clergy to meet people where they are and walk with them on a journey of faith.

Please keep praying for clergy across the diocese as they return to their ministries, refreshed and renewed.
