Please be advised that there will be a planned power outage today at the Cathedral between 3:00 pm and 4:00 pm while UK Power Networks transfers our electricity supply from the generator back to the mains network.

The interruption is expected to last approximately one hour. However, due to the current weather conditions affecting the works, timings may be subject to slight change.

Seasons cafe will close slightly earlier at 2.45pm. The shop will be cash only.

Our 5.30pm Choral Evensong service will be going ahead and we look forward to seeing you.

🚻 We are delighted to share that The National Lottery Community Fund has awarded us a grant of £19,381 towards our toilet refurbishment project.

This generous support brings us a significant step closer to creating improved and accessible facilities for all who visit the Cathedral.

Our sincere thanks to The National Lottery Community Fund, and to the millions of National Lottery players whose participation makes this funding possible and supports communities across the UK.

While we still have a long way to go to reach our overall fundraising target, this grant gives the project real momentum.

🎉 Celebrating Katherine Dienes-Williams 🎉
📣 Calling All Former Choristers, Organ Scholars, Lay Clerks and Sub-Organists from 2008–2026 📣

As many of you will know, Sunday 5 July 2026 will mark the final service under the direction of Katherine Dienes-Williams before she takes up her new role at Wi******er Cathedral.

To celebrate Katherine's remarkable contribution to the musical life of Guildford Cathedral, we are planning something special at Choral Evensong on Sunday 5 July at 6pm and would love to hear from anyone who was involved with the Cathedral Choir during Katherine's time here.

Don't worry, this isn't a surprise flash mob or an unauthorised descant. Katherine knows all about it!

We have contacted everyone whose details we hold, but we know there will be some people we have missed. If you were a chorister, organ scholar, lay clerk or sub-organist during Katherine's time here and would like to be involved, we'd be delighted to hear from you.

⚠️ Power Outage

Update | the Cathedral now has power.

Due to a power outage affecting the Cathedral, we are currently without electricity this morning.

The 9.45am Eucharist service will still go ahead as planned, and we look forward to welcoming you. Some adjustments have been made to the service, including the use of the piano rather than the organ, to enable us to continue worshipping together despite the disruption.

The electricity network provider is working to restore power as quickly as possible. Once power is reconnected, it may take some time for all of our systems and equipment to fully reset, so we appreciate your patience and understanding.

Seasons Café will be closed this morning.

Thank you for bearing with us, and we will provide further updates as necessary.
