Everyone needs a toilet. Not everyone needs the same toilet.

For most of us, using a public toilet is something we hardly think about.

But for others, it can mean asking:

💭 Is there enough space for my wheelchair?

💭 Is there somewhere to change my baby?

💭 Will I find free period products if I need them?

💭 Will I feel comfortable after prostate cancer treatment?

At Guildford Cathedral, we believe everyone deserves to feel welcome.

That is why we are transforming our Visitor Centre toilets into facilities that better support families, improve accessibility, promote period dignity, raise awareness of prostate cancer, and reduce our impact on the environment.

💛 Here is the ask:

Next time you visit and you are spending a penny, could you pay a pound forward?

If you are not visiting soon, or even if you have never visited Guildford Cathedral, you can still help make this project a reality by donating today.

Just £1 makes a difference.

If you are able to give a little more than £1, it will help us go even further, faster.

We have also submitted grant applications to support this project, so please do keep us in your thoughts as we await those decisions.

👉 Donate today or when you visit, and follow us each Tuesday to see the difference we can make together.

Join us for a Taizé Service at Guildford Cathedral on Wednesday, 22 July 2026 from 8pm to 9pm.

Experience a peaceful and reflective evening with beautiful music, prayers, and candlelight as we sit together facing the east end of the Cathedral. The service begins and ends in silence and includes a special ten-minute silent prayer. Feel free to pray, reflect, or simply sit quietly in God's presence.
Taizé prayer centres on our relationship with God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit, and everyone is welcome to join in the singing, whether you sing the main tune or harmonise with one of the lower vocal parts.

We have a small group of singers singing the 4-part harmony of the chants, to help lead the congregation. Rehearsals will take place on the day at 7pm.

If you are a singer with experience of singing in 4 parts, or may also have experience of singing Taizé music, and would like to join us please contact Canon Rachel Young (Canon for Liturgy and Music) by Friday 17 July.

If you’re curious about the Taizé community, founded after WWII in Burgundy, France, you can find out more at https://ow.ly/RXvn50XKWEq.

All are welcome - why not come along and experience this special service?

Now available from the Guildford Cathedral Gift Shop

Maundy: Leadership and Identity in Life and Death is Bishop Andrew's final published work, a deeply moving collection of reflections on faith, ministry and hope.

Published at his request following his diagnosis with terminal pancreatic cancer, the book includes the sermon he preached at his installation as Bishop of Guildford, his Maundy Thursday Chrism service sermons from ten years of episcopal ministry, and Four Last Songs, written in his final days.

In a touching foreword, Archbishop Stephen Cottrell writes that Bishop Andrew's "simple testimony shows how we might cheerfully persist in our faith until the day when we are called to meet the Lord face to face."

Copies are available now from the Cathedral Gift Shop. In a final act of generosity and as a reflection of his love for Guildford Cathedral, Bishop Andrew arranged for 12% of the net receipts from every sale to be donated to the Cathedral, helping to support its ongoing ministry and mission.

🚽 Spend a Penny. Pay a Pound Forward.

Every year, around 100,000 people visit Guildford Cathedral.

Whether you come to worship, enjoy a concert, visit the café, browse the shop, or simply take in the peace and beauty of our Cathedral, one thing should be true for everyone...

You should feel welcome.

That is why we are raising funds to transform our Visitor Centre toilets into facilities that better serve our whole community.

Your support will help us create:

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Better facilities for families, including baby changing and children's step stools.

♿ More accessible toilets with improved space and support for wheelchair users and carers.

💙 Surrey's first prostate-friendly public toilets, in partnership with The Prostate Project, helping raise awareness and support men's health.

🩸 Free period products through our partnership with Binti, helping promote period dignity.

🌍 More environmentally sustainable facilities with energy and water saving improvements.

This is about far more than new toilets.

It is about creating a Cathedral that is welcoming, inclusive, sustainable and accessible for everyone.

💛 Here is the ask:

Next time you visit and you are spending a penny, could you pay a pound forward?

And just like that, another choir year comes to a close. ❤️

What a joy it has been.

Last Evenings Choral Evensong was a beautiful celebration of another remarkable year of music, friendship, and shared memories. It was an opportunity to give thanks for all that we have experienced together, to celebrate those who will continue the journey with us next year, and to say a heartfelt farewell to those who are moving on to exciting new chapters.

After the service, the celebrations continued with heartfelt speeches, wonderful music, plenty of laughter, and a few tears as we honoured Katherine before she leaves for Wi******er.

The evening reception began in the most fitting way, with choristers past and present coming together to sing There Is Nothing Like a Dame. It was a joyful tribute to Katherine, filled with warmth, laughter, and no small amount of affection.

Katherine, thank you for everything you have given to our choir family. You leave with our love, our gratitude, and our very best wishes for all that lies ahead.

Thank you to every chorister, parent, volunteer, member of staff, former chorister, Lay Clerk, Organ Scholar, and supporter who joined us for such a special evening. Your presence was a wonderful reminder that the choir family extends far beyond any single year. Here is to the friendships we have shared, the music we have made, and the memories that will remain with us for many years to come.
