☀️It’s not just the weather that gave us a warm glow this week at Puttenham Barn Bunkhouse…

👩‍👦One of our regular visiting families — a mum and her son — helped out with a little evening watering during their stay. They return year after year for the welcoming atmosphere of the barn, days spent swimming at Frensham Ponds, and time exploring the beautiful Surrey countryside.

There’s something especially lovely about welcoming guests for the first time and hoping they’ll fall in love with the place and return, just like these two have. Stays like this are also a wonderful reminder of the joy of family bonding — sharing simple adventures, quality time, and special memories together.

🚴‍♂️✨Stay for a night, but leave us with a story to remember. 🚴‍♂️✨

It was such a pleasure to welcome John and his son-in-law Carl to Puttenham Barn as they completed the final leg of King Alfred’s Way into Wi******er. 🛏️🚲

They arrived with that wonderful mix of tired legs, good spirits and shared purpose that so many walkers and cyclists bring through our doors. It’s one of the loveliest parts of life at the barn — meeting people in the middle of meaningful journeys, hearing where they’ve come from, and where they’re heading next. 🌿👣

John and Carl are already planning more adventures, from the Cotswolds Pilgrim Path to following the Tour de France when it comes through the UK. We feel very lucky that the barn could be one small part of their much bigger story. 🇬🇧🚴‍♂️

Places like Puttenham Bunk Barn are about more than just a bed for the night. They’re about rest, welcome, conversation, and those small moments of connection that remind us how good people can be. 💚🏡

Wishing them many happy miles ahead — and hoping our paths cross again one day. ✨

Our two-day guided walk on 5–6 September starts at Farnham station and follows a 17-mile route to Guildford, taking in:

😍This is what a perfect September weekend looks like. ⬇️

🌞Saturday morning: arrive at Farnham station, lace up your boots and head out into the hills.

⛪Saturday afternoon: ruins of a 12th-century abbey, sweeping views from Crooksbury Hill, a detour through Hampshire Estate — a countryside location you might just recognise from the big screen.

🍻Saturday evening: a home-cooked meal at Puttenham Barn Bunkhouse, a pint in the village pub and a quiz to round off the night in our cosy 250-year-old converted barn.

🌅Sunday morning: Watts Chapel at dawn, the Norman splendour of St Nicholas's Church in Compton, then out through the beautiful grounds of Loseley Park.

💧Sunday afternoon: the final stretch along the Wey Navigations into Guildford. Train home by 4pm.
