Wakering Spiritual Centre A warm and welcoming Spiritual Centre where everyone is welcome. In 29 years we have raised circa £100K which has been donated to local charities i.e.

MacMillan Nurses, Southend Hospital / Social Services, RNLI + many more. The centre first opened on the 12th May 1999 at the Shoebury Hotel, our very first medium was Bill Rich (who still continues to serve for us today). The main reason for opening the centre was to raise money for local charities, while raising awareness of spiritualism to the surrounding areas of Southend-on-Sea. At that time t

here were no other centres within the vicinity. We were at the Shoebury Hotel for 5 years, sadly this came to a close when the hotel encountered a devastating fire. We relocated to Sandpiper Close (still within Shoeburyness) where our numbers continued to grow each week. After 10 years of serving the local community, we needed to acquire a larger hall. So, on the 14th August 2014 we relocated to the Great Wakering Memorial Hall and we changed our name to the 'Wakering Spiritualist Centre'. In the 22 years since we opened we have raised just under £100,000.00 and distributed this to a vast number of charities i.e. MacMillan Nurses, Southend Hospital, RNLI, Guide Dogs for the Blind, Southend Social Services, etc, etc. In addition to monetary support we have also donated a significant number of Easter Eggs and Christmas presents to those that are less fortunate. The ongoing support we strive to achieve is accountable by the regular features we promote throughout the year i.e. 1-2-1 table readings, admission, raffle fees and all profits which are accumulated each week. Everyone that works and helps at the centre do so voluntarily and we would like to thank them all for their hard work. As Christmas draws close and we prepare to welcome a brand new year, we want to send each and every one of you our love, gratitude, and heartfelt blessings.
Thank you all so much for your continuous loving messages of support and kind well wishes. They truly mean more than words can say and have been deeply felt and appreciated. Your love and positivity never go unnoticed.
Rita and Stuart miss you all dearly and hold you close in their hearts. They sincerely hope that the time will come when everyone can be reunited once again, sharing love, laughter, and spiritual connection together.
May your Christmas be filled with peace, warmth, and love, and may the New Year bring good health, happiness, and renewed hope to you all.

Good Evening All,
In our most recent post (granted it has been some time now) we were hopeful we were to reopen in this month. Unfortunately, we need a bit more time to get ourselves ready to reopen the centre.
As you have all been incredibly patient, as well as being the most amazing support we could have hoped for, it's only fair we share and provide full transparency to help manage expectations.
We now believe it to be more tangible / realistic to give the date of March / April 2026 for the centre to reopen.
I'm sure this will come as a shock as well as being a disappointing discovery, however if we are going to to do it, then we have to do it right!
Thank you all for your continued support and well wishes, you have no idea how thankful we are.

Good Evening All,
It's been a while since we last provided an update. As you know we had looked to reopen this Thursday (1st May). Unfortunately, we have encountered a number of twists and turns on the road to recovery thereby not making it possible for us to open as originally planned.
With this in mind, we are hopeful that September will now be a more realistic goal to be achieved.
We will naturally keep you posted along the way.

We have decided to remain closed until Thursday 1st May. We are incredibly sorry as it feels we are letting each of you down, but under the circumstances this time is needed in order for us to return as we once were.
