What a truly historic and momentous occasion for St Michael’s Great Torrington! ⛪️✨

For the first time in our church’s history, we had the privilege of welcoming the first woman priest to preside at our Eucharist. A heartfelt thank you to Archdeacon Verena for joining us and for being part of such a special moment in the life of our church. 🙏

We would also like to say a huge congratulations to Fr Steve on his new appointment as Assistant Rural Dean of the Torrington Deanery! 🎉

~ First woman priest to preside at the Eucharist at St Michael’s ~

A Special Sunday at St Michael’s ✨

This Sunday, 6th September, we are delighted to welcome Archdeacon Verena Breed, who will celebrate our 10am Parish Eucharist at St Michael’s, Great Torrington, with Fr. Steve preaching.

It will be a particularly special and historic occasion, as Verena will be the first woman priest to preside at the Eucharist at St Michael’s.

We would love to see as many people as possible in church to give Verena a wonderfully warm Torrington welcome and to share together in this significant moment in the life of our church and wider Benefice.

Everyone is very welcome — please come along, show your support, and bring a friend too!

Join us on Saturday 11th July at St Michael & All Angels Church, Great Torrington for a special Teachers Rock fundraising concert supporting Rise Up with Teachers Rock in partnership with YoungMinds and supported by Rotary Club of Torrington

Come along for an uplifting evening of incredible live music, or get involved in our Community Singing Workshop (3:30pm–4:30pm) and, if you’d like, perform with the choir during the evening concert!

🎵 Concert starts at 7:30pm (doors open 6:45pm)
🎟 Tickets £6–£15 – available online or on the door.

Together, we can help support young people’s mental health through the power of music.
