“And I sought for a man among them,
that should build up the wall,
and stand in the gap before me for the land,
that I should not destroy it;
but I found none. (Ezekiel 22:30)
The United Kingdom has a history of revivals throughout its existence. These revivals were both genuine and relevant to the society of their time. They were proved to be so by the transformation that took place within the nation as a whole, not just within the Church.
A true revival is one that starts off within the Church, but is not constrained within these limits, resulting in the entire nation being affected. An important outcome is the discipling of the population in Kingdom of God principles. As these are expounded in a relevant fashion to those dwelling there, the whole nation becomes secure and prosperous in Kingdom ways.
In the UK, however, over time the vast majority of people went away from the Lord, bringing a curse upon the earth, smiting it with iniquities. Society is no longer governed by Christian principles. It has yielded to the constant barrage of different ideologies, such as Secularism (Postmodernism) and Relativism. And the religious field has been taken over by Religious Pluralism, Relativism, Post Truth, Scepticism, and Atheism. In essence, these question God as described in Psalm 2:1-2 : “Why do the nations rage … against God and against His Anointed?”
All the signs described above mean that God's people should turn to Him with all their hearts, for He is merciful. (Joel 2:18). We need to understand there is not much that can be effected in the human and political spheres, for many laws have already been used to benefit those who practice evil. But we understand that, as the Church, we are called to rule in the spiritual sphere – and then we will have consequences in human laws (Ephesians 2:6).
So the time is right for sounding the shofar, in order to warn the people (Joel 2:1,15).
Habbakuk 3:2 says: “Revive Thy work in the midst of the years.” The current situation has raised a cry in the hearts of many, bringing about a prayer movement throughout the nation, for all to pray the cry of the ancient revivals:
Lord, do it again! Or, Lord, do even more. For darkness is coming upon the earth. (Is.60)
