The Death of Her Majesty the Queen

For many people our Queen has been an example of Christain service and duty and a much loved and respected monarch. As such we will now participate in a period of National Mourning.

Gracious God, we give thanks
for the life of your servant Queen Elizabeth,
for her faith and her dedication to duty.
Bless our nation as we mourn her death
and may her example continue to inspire us;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Harlaxton Church will be open for private prayer from about 9:30am to 4:30pm. There will be a Book of Condolence for you to write your thoughts. The church will also be open as usual on Saturday for the same reason.

There will be an opportunity for you to light a candle in Her Majesty's memory if you wish.

The chuch bells will ring out fully muffled tomorrow (Friday) at 12 noon as a mark of respect and love for her. On Saturday they will also be rung in celebration of our new king - King Charles III.

O Lord our heavenly Father, high and mighty, King of kings, Lord of lords, the only Ruler of princes, who dost from thy throne behold all the dwellers upon earth; most heartily we beseech thee with thy favour to behold our most gracious Sovereign Lady, Queen Elizabeth; and so replenish her with the grace of thy Holy Spirit,
that she may alway incline to thy will, and walk in thy way: endue her plenteously with heavenly gifts; grant her in health and wealth long to live;
strengthen her that she may vanquish and overcome all her enemies; and finally, after this life, she may attain everlasting joy and felicity;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
