Today at St John’s we observed the festival of Creation in Christ for the first time.
Here is an extract from the Vicar’s sermon based on John 1.1-14:
“On this festival day of Creation in Christ, John’s prologue does not merely invite us to pause and find Christ within creation before returning to the routines of our lives. Rather, it propels us towards a radical seeking of humanity within the whole creation by repenting of our attempts to confine or affirm creation solely through our human effort. The Word compels us to think anew about how the entirety of the creation is lifted up and transformed when we behold the Word in divine glory, flesh to flesh, fully present within our creaturely existence, and yet embracing all our distinctiveness as Creatures born in Christ!”
