Luke 1v34-35; 39-45:
There is no doubt that the Incarnation of Jesus was miraculous. He was conceived when the Holy Spirit came upon Mary and His power overshadowed her (v35). Clearly, the Holy Spirit was powerfully upon Mary during her pregnancy. In the first few days of her pregnancy, when she went to see her cousin Elizabeth to confirm that she too was surprisingly expecting a child, all Mary did was greet Elizabeth, and the power of the Holy Spirit upon her was so real and strong that merely at the sound of Mary’s voice, Elizabeth’s child reacted – leapt in her womb - and Elizabeth herself was filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke prophetically to Mary. (41-45)
I’m sure that it was very difficult for Mary as she carried the child before she was married, tongues would have been wagging, and she might even have been despised by some, but all through her pregnancy she experienced the power and presence of the Holy Spirit growing within and upon her.
