Holy Innocents in Highnam, Gloucester is a Grade I building famous for its wonderful frescoes. We are a living church and this site not only shows the ongoing projects on the building but importantly the life of the church itself. Visitors are important to the church, and we welcome over 5,000 visitors each year. The church is open to visitors on Sundays from April to September, and at other times

by arrangement. . So come and see how the projects progress and why this church is so important. We'll be putting events and updates here to keep you informed of Highnam Church life.

Thank you so much to everyone who came to count nature with us this morning! Your enthusiasm was infectious! 😁

We spotted all sorts of wonderful species (stay tuned for the full list) but some highlights include: bird's-foot trefoil, a greater spotted woodpecker, a centipede, woodlice, sunburst lichens, oxeye daises, snails and so many more. 🐌

We are so proud of the brilliant diversity in our churchyard, and that it is a space people can come and sit with God's creation. 🌿

Today is the beginning of week, and is a national initiative run by Caring for God's Acre and A Rocha UK. We were very pleased to join with other churches across the country to record the nature in our churchyard. We will of course be submitting our sightings for their records, and to help these charities understand the importance of churchyards for biodiversity. 🌳

We would like to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who supported Highnam Open Gardens 2026! 🌷🌿

We could not have done it without you all. Thanks to the help of our garden owners, organisers, bakers, washing up help, plant raisers, visitors and anyone who helped in any way, we were able to raise just over £4000 for Highnam Church and Listening Post. 🩷

We would love for you to join us as we take part in on Saturday the 6th June from 9.30-11.30am at Highnam Church. 🦋

The Community Churchyard Maintenance Group is still going ahead at the normal time too on the same day. Bring your gloves as normal if you are coming for this, and maybe also your spotting skills to spot some wildlife! 👀

We will be spotting and counting the plants and animals we see in our churchyard. No experience needed, just come along wearing sturdy shoes. There will be refreshments provided! ☕

Good morning everyone, we hope you are looking forward to another beautiful day! ☀️

There is lots going on across our Benefice today - firstly our Open Air Service at Meredith, Tibberton at 11am. We would love to see you there! 🌿

Have you enjoyed day 1 of Highnam Open Gardens?! If you haven't made it to any yet, maybe we can entice you with some photos of some of the gardens? The gardens are open again tomorrow from 12.30-5pm. You can buy your programmes on the day at 2 Beech Close, 5 Poppyfield or 68 Maidenhall. 🌿
