Do come to our Backpack Blessing Service for Back to school Sunday 6th September 11:30am bring any school related item: backpacks, blazers, lunchboxes whatever you like to be blessed. This for all school related people: pupils, parents, uin students, teachers, teaching assistants and any school/ college/uni staff!!!

Thru the Roof Holiday Club

We ran a slightly altered Barnies session and then had 16 children with us for the main Holiday Club. We started in Church with some singing accompanied by Alison on the piano. We learnt the "Bean Game" and watched a bible story drama written by the very clever Bob French! The staging of a spectacular cardboard house was built by Robert. Our actors included Mike Cummings, Aaron Brant, Bob himself and Samuel (12) a member of our HUB youth group. We also "borrowed" two friends of Laine's Niamh (16) and Darcy (13) to complete our cast. We then moved into age groups in the centre with games and a story and lots of craft, the children could earn points throughout the day in all kinds of ways for their teams. They did an excellent job of this and kept Elizabeth very busy keeping the score! At lunchtime the children ate their packed lunches outside under the tree and the volunteers joined them with a delicious sandwich lunch provided by June, Tamryn and Robert

Behind the curtains…..yes, the progress is tangible

Beata Johnson memorial at 95% completion.

Elizabeth Whitehead now being the focus for the inscription. Obviously, you can see that the coloured marble inlay borders have yet to be done. Sourcing appropriate material has been challenging. The three “false corbels” have been my concern from the outset. Work on those is continuing off-site.

For interest, the lumps of metal were what held this big monument on the wall. Some demonstrate the expansion due to corrosion, and others show the next stage, where the remaining good material has become so thin that it’s vanished.

It was wonderful to welcome Bishop Robert for our Confirmation service last Sunday. We heard testimonies from our candidates about their journey to baptism, confirmation and affirmation of baptismal vows. Aaron was baptised and confirmed, Andrew, Bob, Simon, Debbie and Matthew were confirmed and Peter and Gillian affirmed their baptismal faith; all of them being anointed with oil and receiving the laying on of the Bishop's hands with prayer for the Holy Spirit.
