Family is more than DNA. ❤️

Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers, foster mothers, adoptive mothers, grandmothers, sisters, aunties, friends and women around us to give out to so many. Motherhood comes in many different forms and today we want to say thank you again for all that you do. 💖

In the UK, Mother’s Day began as a day to travel home, visit your mother church, and be reunited with family. Many children left home as early as 10 years old to work, so this was one of the few days families gathered again.

Church has been at the centre of family life for centuries, and often becomes family for those without one nearby.

“God places the lonely in families.” (Psalm 68:6) This is God’s heart: belonging.

Jesus broadens our view of family.“Whoever does the will of my Father…is my brother, sister and mother.” (Matthew 12:48-50)

Family is more than DNA- it’s discipleship, friendship, support and love.

Today we celebrate:
✨ Mothers
✨Mother figures
✨Those who nurture, support and guide
✨ Those for whom today is difficult.

This Mother’s Day, may our churches be places where everyone belongs 💚
