Gloucester Cathedral stands for the glory of God in Jesus Christ and for the good of all people. For nearly a thousand years, people have come here to pray and to feel refreshed and up-lifted. Gloucester Cathedral is one of the finest medieval buildings in the country. See the tomb of Edward II, Robert Curthose’s monument and some of the most important stained glass in the country – including the
spectacular Great East Window. The extraordinary fan-vaulted medieval cloisters are famous throughout the world. Please check our website for the most up to date information about our opening times 👉 https://www.gloucestercathedral.org.uk/ Inspired by the Gospel of Jesus Christ, we seek to be in tune with Heaven and in touch with daily live. Our purpose is to reveal and sustain Gloucester Cathedral to inspire all who come, through living faith, history and tradition. Our top three priorities from the period of 2020 to 2024 are as follows:
- To welcome all visitors joyfully, ensuring every visit has meaning. We aim to do this through improving access, visitor experience, understanding of our Christian faith, history and traditions, and creating a sense of belonging
- To ensure the Cathedral remains open and relevant for generations to come. We aim to do this through balancing the books and growing our income, caring for our historic buildings, developing our people (staff, volunteers and congregations) and programming outstanding activities for our audiences.
- To use our assets and partnerships to make a positive contribution to our local community. We aim to do this through caring for those who are experiencing homelessness, working with individuals and groups to support mental health and wellbeing, working with young people, and promoting environmental sustainability.
