*🌧️ Salaat Al Istisqaa’ | The Prayer for Rain*

As parts of England, including the Gloucestershire , experience drought conditions, we will be coming together this Sunday to revive the Sunnah of *Salaat Al Istisqaa’* .

*This is a time for us to turn to Allah subhana watala with humility, repentance and sincere duʿā, recognising our complete dependence upon Him and asking Him to bless us with beneficial rain and shower us with His mercy.*

Our duʿā extends beyond ourselves, for our communities, farmers, crops, animals and the land affected by the prolonged dry conditions.

*🌙 Dear Brothers and Sisters,*

We warmly encourage all our community families to come together for Salah al-Kusuf (the prayer of the solar eclipse) today Wednesday, 12th August at 6:30 PM, at the Islamic Society of Gloucester.

*A solar eclipse is one of the signs of Allah ﷻ* and an opportunity for us to pause, reflect, remember Allah, make du‘ā, seek His forgiveness and turn to Him in prayer.

*The Prophet ﷺ taught us* that when an eclipse occurs, we should turn to prayer and remembrance of Allah. Let us take this special opportunity to bring our families, children and loved ones to the masjid and share this important act of worship together. 🤲

*Ṣalat al-Kusuf | Eclipse Prayer at ISOG* 🌘

This *Wednesday 12th August 2026*, we will be holding *Ṣalat al-Kusuf (the Eclipse Prayer)* at Islamic Society Of Gloucester, should the eclipse be visible in Gloucester, Insha’Allah.

Following the Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ, at the time of an eclipse we turn to Allah through prayer, duʿā, remembrance and seeking His forgiveness.

We encourage our congregation to join us should the eclipse be visible.
