As its volunteer week this week we want to say a huge thank you to all who help make our church life across the benefice so wonderful. Our serving teams, flower arrangers, church welcomers, those who help at the soup kitchen or community cafe, all who serve refreshments or hand out books, those who help to lead worship, our amazing musicians and bellringers, PCC and church wardens, and all who keep our church buildings looking great.

If you’d like to volunteer in any way then just speak to Alice or a churchwarden.

Back at the start of May, in honour of World Labyrinth Day, we held a peace vigil in the Labyrinth in St John's churchyard. People were then invited to join a moving meditation as well. It was lovely seeing the churchyard put to good use

We give thanks for all those who give their time generously at St John's and across the benefice

Generous God, we give thanks for the many ways in which you have called your people to serve throughout our diocese. Bless the work of our hands, and, in the joys and challenges, renew a spirit of hope, as our faithful service helps to grow your Church and transform communities.

🔥 Come, Holy spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful people
and kindle in them the fire of your love 🔥

Yesterday, we celebrated Pentecost when we remember the coming of the Holy Spirit onto the disciples after Jesus' Ascension. It's also known as the birthday of the Church

🙏 Faithful God, who fulfilled the promises of Easter by sending us your Holy Spirit and opening to every race and nation the way of life eternal: open our lips by your Spirit, that every tongue may tell of your glory; through Jesus Christ our Lord. 🙏

This afternoon we welcomed our new Mayor of Glastonbury, Zoe Price, in a wonderful Civic Service to mark the start of her term. In true Glastonbury fashion, Mayor Price received blessings from Alice as well as Dreow the Arch Druid.
