Prayers Requested
In Loving Memory of Donald Mathieson, Glasgow
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donald Mathieson in his 94th year.
Donald was a man of profound faith who, alongside his late wife Elsie, shared a deep and lifelong devotion to Saint Padre Pio. Together, they were tireless in promoting his message—not only through prayer groups and pilgrimages but also by pioneering the Padre Pio online presence, ensuring his light reached people across the digital world.
They were uniquely blessed to be gifted with first-class relics of Padre Pio, which were presented to them by the Capuchins. Over many years, Donald and Elsie witnessed countless miracles and answered prayers as they selflessly shared these relics with the sick and suffering at Padre Pio Masses.
They had a great love for the poor and they always helped where and when they could. They also helped others to go on pilgrimage to Lourdes and Italy.
Following the loss of Elsie in 2020, Donald faced the challenges of dementia with grace.
He passed away peacefully on Sunday, 8th February 2026 (the Sunday of light and salt, the day of the resurrection) surrounded by the love of his family. We take comfort in knowing he is finally at rest and reunited with his beloved wife.
"I will stand at the gates of Heaven and I will not enter until all of my spiritual children are with me." — St. Padre Pio.
May he rest in peace and rise in glory.
Padre Pio, pray for him.
Please pray for him.
