Knights of St Columba

Knights of St Columba The Knights of St Columba is an Order of Catholic laymen dedicated to serving the Church and supporting fellow brothers and sisters.

Founded in 1919 in Glasgow, the Knights of St Columba is a Catholic laymen’s organisation dedicated to faith, charity, and fraternity, supporting the Church, families, and communities through service, fundraising, and youth development. The organisation is non-political and exists to uphold the mission of the Catholic Church, while also promoting the spiritual and material wellbeing of its members

and their families. Guided by the Social Teachings of the Catholic Church, the Order works for the moral and social welfare of society. A particular focus is placed on helping young people develop in the likeness of Christ. The Order strives to achieve its aims through the fundamental virtues of:
- Charity
- Unity
- Fraternity

These are reflected in its core principles:
Faith – Family – Fraternity

Members actively contribute to raising tens of thousands of pounds for pro-life charities, the hospice movement, and national action projects. Activities include fundraising, social events, stewarding, youth competitions, and much more. Through working together for the common good, members build strong bonds, grow in faith, and form lasting friendships. The organisation is structured through local councils, provinces, and regions across the UK, all united in their mission: To serve God by serving others.

Faith in Action — From Scotland to England!

Yesterday we shared how our Brothers in Scotland were assisting with the Carfin National Pilgrimage — but while that was happening, Brothers were also hard at work much further south, helping at Harvington Hall for the Pilgrimage Mass of the English Martyrs, with Archbishop Miguel Maury Buendia, the Apostolic Nucio, and Archbishop Bernard.

From Scotland to England, our Brothers are present, active and putting their faith into action right across the breadth of the UK.

It’s not just about wearing the badge — it’s about serving our Church, supporting our communities and standing alongside our fellow Catholics.

So, if you’ve ever thought “I’d love to do more with my faith”… why not take that first step?

📩 Drop us a message and find out how you can get involved with the Knights of St. Columba.

🙏📿A SPECIAL AFTERNOON AT CARFIN GROTTO📿🙏

This afternoon, our Brothers had the privilege of assisting with the opening of the National Pilgrimage of Carfin Grotto, alongside Archbishop William Nolan of Glasgow.

This year’s pilgrimage is especially significant as we also celebrate the Jubilee of St. Francis of Assisi — a wonderful reminder of his deep love for Christ, creation and all God’s people.

The National Pilgrimage gives Catholics from across Scotland the opportunity to come together as one family of faith — united in prayer, fellowship and devotion. ❤️

It is a privilege for our Brothers to be part of such a special occasion and to put our Faith, Family & Fraternity into action through service.

Our Lady of Lourdes, pray for us.
St. Therese of Lisieux, pray for us.
St. Francis of Assisi, pray for us.
St. Columba, pray for us.

A VERY BIG THANK YOU FROM THE BROTHERS OF THE KNIGHTS OF ST. COLUMBA 🙏

Our heartfelt thanks to The Very Reverend Robert Igo, and to all the Fathers and Brothers of Ampleforth Abbey, for the incredibly warm welcome you have given to the Brothers of the Knights of St. Columba this weekend.

From prayer and reflection to fellowship and fraternity, our time with you has given us some real food for thought — moments to pause, listen, reflect and consider how we can continue to put our Faith into Action in the service of the Church, our families and our communities.

Your hospitality, wisdom and example have been truly appreciated. We leave Ampleforth with grateful hearts, renewed spirit and plenty to reflect upon. 🙏

Thank you for welcoming us as brothers. ❤️

As our final evening at Ampleforth comes to an end, we will gather together as brothers for Compline — our Nightly Prayers. 🙏

Tonight, our prayers will be offered especially for the Monks of Ampleforth and their whole community, giving thanks for their welcome, their witness and the beautiful gift of prayer they share with so many.

Please take a quiet moment this evening to remember the monks in your own prayers too. 🕯️

May God bless the Monks of Ampleforth and all who are part of their community.

A Morning of Prayer at Ampleforth Abbey 🙏🌅

As the sun rises over the beautiful Yorkshire countryside, we began the morning with Matins (Morning Prayer) alongside the monks at Ampleforth Abbey.

There is something truly special about starting the day in prayer — surrounded by the peace and silence of the Abbey, listening to the monks’ voices raised in praise and taking a moment to simply be still in God’s presence.

And as we stepped outside, we were reminded of the wonders of God’s creation. 🌿🐦🌄

“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.”
Psalm 19:1 ✝️

May we carry that peace with us throughout the day and remember to give thanks for the wonderful world God has entrusted to us. ❤️

Off to Ampleforth Abbey… 🙏

This evening we head to the beautiful Ampleforth Abbey for Compline – Evening Prayer, before entering into the Golden Silence. 🕯️

During this special time of prayer and silence, we will be praying jointly for all our Brothers and their families, past and present — remembering those who have gone before us, those who continue to walk with us, and all those who need our prayers today.

Why not take a few moments this evening to pause, put aside the distractions of the day, and join us in prayer. 🙏

Wherever you are, you can be part of this prayer with us.
