Knights of St Columba

Knights of St Columba The Knights of St Columba is an Order of Catholic laymen dedicated to serving the Church and supporting fellow brothers and sisters.

Founded in 1919 in Glasgow, the Knights of St Columba is a Catholic laymen’s organisation dedicated to faith, charity, and fraternity, supporting the Church, families, and communities through service, fundraising, and youth development. The organisation is non-political and exists to uphold the mission of the Catholic Church, while also promoting the spiritual and material wellbeing of its members

and their families. Guided by the Social Teachings of the Catholic Church, the Order works for the moral and social welfare of society. A particular focus is placed on helping young people develop in the likeness of Christ. The Order strives to achieve its aims through the fundamental virtues of:
- Charity
- Unity
- Fraternity

These are reflected in its core principles:
Faith – Family – Fraternity

Members actively contribute to raising tens of thousands of pounds for pro-life charities, the hospice movement, and national action projects. Activities include fundraising, social events, stewarding, youth competitions, and much more. Through working together for the common good, members build strong bonds, grow in faith, and form lasting friendships. The organisation is structured through local councils, provinces, and regions across the UK, all united in their mission: To serve God by serving others.

✝️ Happy Feast Day of St. Columba! ✝️

Today we celebrate the Feast of St. Columba, the great Irish missionary, monk, and evangeliser whose faith, courage, and dedication helped spread Christianity throughout Scotland and beyond.

As members of the Knights of St. Columba, we give thanks for our patron saint and seek to follow his example of prayer, service, charity, and unwavering commitment to Christ.

May St. Columba inspire us to continue putting our faith into action within our parishes, communities, and families, always striving to be witnesses to the Gospel in our daily lives.

St. Columba, pray for us. 🙏

May God bless all our Brothers, their families, clergy, widows, and friends on this special feast day

✝️ Solemnity of Corpus Christi ✝️

Today, we celebrate Corpus Christi — the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ.

As Catholics, we believe that Jesus Christ is truly present — Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity—in the Blessed Sacrament.

This sacred feast invites us to deepen our love for the Eucharist, participate in Holy Mass with renewed devotion, and honor Our Lord through prayer, adoration, and Eucharistic processions.

St. Thomas Aquinas beautifully expressed the mystery of the Eucharist:
“O sacred banquet in which Christ is received, the memory of His Passion is renewed, the mind is filled with grace, and a pledge of future glory is given to us.”

May this feast inspire us to approach the altar with gratitude, reverence, and joy, recognizing Christ's abiding presence among us.

🙏 Lord Jesus, increase our faith in Your Real Presence and draw us ever closer to You in the Most Holy Eucharist.

As we approach the Feast of St Columba on 9th June, we give thanks for the life and legacy of this great missionary who brought the light of Christ.

St Columba dedicated his life to prayer, evangelisation, and building communities of faith. His courage, humility, and love for Christ continue to inspire us today.

May his example strengthen our faith and our commitment to serve God and others.

St Columba, pray for us

Earlier today, two Brothers — Kenny McGroarty & Ian Pugh from Coatbridge Council 520 — along with Provincial Grand Knight of Province 16, Des Hamill, met with Mary Doogan & Maria Glen at St Patrick’s Primary School, Coatbridge, to uplift the St Michael Statue and transport it to All Saints Primary School, Airdrie.

Mr Michael Deane, Assistant Head Teacher, was absolutely delighted to receive this beautiful statue and gave us a very warm welcome. He carefully selected a prominent position within the school so that all pupils and staff will have the opportunity to see, venerate, or simply say a wee prayer as they pass each day.

As we prepared to leave, Head Teacher Mrs Michelle Cullen arrived and also expressed her gratitude for bringing the statue into their school community.

A wonderful example of faith, fellowship, and community spirit being shared across our schools. 🙏
