HIS GRACE IS ENOUGH 🙏❤️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
Beginning My Third Year in Glasgow

Today, I officially begin my third year of ministry in Glasgow as Parish Priest of St. Columba RC Church and Chaplain to the Filipino Community. Yesterday marked two years since my appointment took effect on 3 September 2024.

I said to myself, “Wow, time flies!” Two years have already passed since I began this ministry.

There have been many joys, but certainly challenges as well—moments when things were easy and moments when they were not. Through it all, I am reminded of the Lord’s words to St. Paul:“My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12:9)

Perhaps this is one of the lessons of these past two years: we do not minister simply because we are capable or strong. We continue because God gives us the grace we need each day.

My heartfelt thanks to everyone for your support, kindness, and prayers, and especially to all who generously volunteer and serve in our parish and Filipino Chaplaincy. Your selfless service constantly reminds me that we journey and serve together as one community of faith.

As I begin another year of ministry among you, I simply ask: please continue to pray for me and for all of us who serve in our parish and community, that despite our weaknesses and limitations, we may remain faithful and focused on the mission entrusted to us.

And today, God reminded me once again that I am not alone in this mission. He continues to send people, sometimes unexpectedly, whose kindness and generosity are signs of His presence among us.

Maraming salamat sa inyong lahat. To God be the glory! 🙏

May Jesus continue to guide and strengthen us, and remind us always: His grace is enough. 🙏

Thank you to everyone who has generously donated plants for our parish garden!

We are especially grateful to the Manlutac, Solas, Alfonso, Llorente, and Osena families for generously sharing their plants with us. If you have any spare plants you would like to donate, they are always very welcome. Every plant helps make our garden a more beautiful and peaceful place for everyone.

As we celebrate the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation this week, may our little efforts remind us of our responsibility to care for the beautiful world God has entrusted to us.

“The Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to till it and keep it.” — Genesis 2:15

VIVA LA VIRGEN! VIVA NUESTRA SEÑORA DE PEÑAFRANCIA!

We warmly invite all devotees of Our Lady of Peñafrancia, together with your families and friends, to join us at St. Columba RC Church, Glasgow, for our Annual Fiesta Celebration in honour of Our Lady of Peñafrancia — lovingly called “Ina” (Mother) by her devotees.

The devotion to Our Lady of Peñafrancia has deep roots in the Catholic faith. Its origins trace back to Peña de Francia in Spain, while the devotion in the Philippines began around 1710 through Fr. Miguel Robles de Covarrubias in Nueva Caceres, now Naga City. Over the centuries, devotion to Ina has become a treasured expression of Marian faith, especially among Bicolanos, and has travelled with Filipino communities throughout the world.

As devotees, we continue this beautiful heritage of faith, entrusting ourselves and our families to Mary’s maternal intercession and asking her always to lead us closer to her Son, Jesus.

Following Jesus is lived in ordinary faithfulness. Rain or shine, we come to Mass, we serve, and we remain faithful—not because it is always easy or convenient, but because we know whom we follow and whom we serve. 🙏❤️
