Our lunch club had its final meet of the season today, enjoying a trip to Garrion Bridge for an afternoon tea and time to socialise and browse.

The lunch club now takes a wee break over the summer holidays while our volunteers relax and prepare for the next season.

A big thank you to all our amazing volunteers and mission team leader, Linda, for all their hard work this year and how amazing they make the lunch club every week. ❤️💛💙

Serving without discrimination is who we are.
No matter who you are, or what your creed or clan... If you have a need, and we are able to, we are here to help.

When we open the door to our churches each morning, we can never be sure who will be seeking our help and what they need, but we will help them if we can.

Jesus showed love where love was needed most – in forgotten places, at the edges of society, in the lives pushed to the margins. The Salvation Army reaches out with that same love today.

Unlike most charities, we don’t focus on one cause or group of people. Instead, we work tirelessly to bring warmth, safety and hope to those who need it most, including people experiencing homelessness and those who are seeking asylum.

The Salvation Army has always stood up for justice. It is rooted in who we are. We remember Jesus when he said 'what you did for the least of these, you also did for me' (Matt 25:40).

This week we hold in our prayers, those who face persecution, violence, discrimination of any kind for who they are. And we pray that we might love like Jesus loved, without limit, without prejudice, and with an ability to see every person as a child of God ❤️

During our service today we prayed for peace on our streets, an end to violence and discrimination of all kinds and for those who feel unsafe in our community.

A guided reflection has been created to help us consider what it means for Glasgow to flourish, especially in light of what is happening just now. If you'd like a copy, please email us or drop us a message so we can send you a copy.

Our church is family. Everyone is welcome here. We are not perfect, but Jesus is. And we do our best to love like him. What affects any of us affects all of us. We pray God's peace rules our streets. And our hearts.

The Parkhead Corps Bake Off winner! Kirsty and her Victoria Sponge cake which was judged to be light, fluffy and full of flavour. The fruit was fresh and delicious. It was a tough competition with a very worthy winner.

Rumour is the cake went missing after the competition and no one has admitted to seeing it since (but the corps officer won't tell us what she had for breakfast!) 🤣
