As all Street Pastors in Glasgow are part of the same organisation, we're going to combine pages into one, to save double posting and remove some confusion.
You'll see and may get notifications of changes to this page as we do this over the next few weeks - don't be concerned!
There are no changes to our West End teams and we're still patrolling in the West End.

Blessings!

First Bus are withdrawing their "Night Bus" services at the end of this month, some of which come through the West End.

Do plan ahead how you are going to get home, after having a great night out in the West End!

First Glasgow has today (10th July) announced the withdrawal of its night bus services in Glasgow, which will commence on 31st July.

The decision was made following a 12-month period of monitoring passenger numbers, which revealed that services were regularly operating with as few as 14 passengers per hour.

The drivers who work late into the night to deliver these services will be redeployed into the daytime network to further support existing services across the city where passenger recovery is strong and additional capacity is required.

In light of these changes, we’d like to understand the barriers which may have led to these services being under-utilised. Please take a few minutes to take a short survey and help us understand the current landscape, and demand for late night services.

To avoid confusion in Glasgow and to ensure things run as efficiently as possible, we are excited that we will be managing Street Pastor patrols in the West End as part of Glasgow Street Pastors rather than as a separate organisation and charity.

The same people will be patrolling in the West End in the same way with the same uniforms (once lockdown lifts) with great prayer support from our Prayer Pastors so the West End is certainly not being forgotten!

We thank-you for your continuing support which we know you'll continue to extend as we become part of Glasgow Street Pastors.

Our friends at Glasgow City Mission have opened up their emergency night shelter, this time using a hotel rather than using Lodging House Mission due COVID.
In previous years we have had to refer multiple people to their services but we hope that uptake will be low this year.

They always appreciate additional support https://www.glasgowcitymission.com/what-we-do/glasgow-overnight-welcome-centre/ https://cafdonate.cafonline.org/14976 #!/DonationDetails

Tuesday 1st December

1st day of Advent

Our new Overnight Welcome Centre opens tonight. Thanks to the hard work of our staff, volunteers and partner organisations, those who would otherwise be sleeping rough will have a bed in a warm room to themselves as we continue to negotiate restrictions as a result of the ongoing pandemic.

We've just received the tragic news that one of our original West End Street Pastors, Bill Niven, unexpectedly passed away on Thursday.

Billy was one of our original team leaders with a huge heart for the people of Glasgow, no matter who they were or what their background was.

We want to offer our deepest condolences to his extended family, who our thoughts and prayers are with, as he makes his way to heaven too soon.
