Holy Spirit come again this Pentecost:
Out of the depth we call.
Cut through the noise to still our souls and warm our hearts.
Open our ears to hear and understand.
Give us to unhurried work as those assured by grace.


Holy Spirit come again this Pentecost:
Out of the depth we call.
Prevent us from harm, raise our hope, comfort our lament.
Persist in us as conscience, care and love.
As you awoke our brother John, awaken us:
from his Aldersgate into our own. Amen.

An ascension prayer from Jennifer

Jesus, our living Lord,
Born to walk with us and defeat our death, lifted now to heaven,
Blessed be your Holy name.
We are your witnesses.
Let our actions declare that love lives
in us, as it yet lives in You.
Sustain us through the Holy Spirit:
Lift our burdens from us
And teach us how to forgive each other.
Let us not fear the future,
nor permit evil to flourish while we try in vain to calculate Your time,
Because this moment, and every one yet to come, is Yours – Sacred, and touched by Your love –
Here, and far beyond our imagination.
