The United Reformed Church in Shawlands is a place to develop a vibrant Christian spirituality, make friends and meet the Lord in Holy Communion each week. We are the successor to the first congregation of Churches of Christ founded in Glasgow in 1839. This denomination was a movement designed to promote Christian unity based on principles from the New Testament. It was distinctive in that it cele

brated Holy Communion each week and practiced adult baptism. In 1980 most of the Churches of Christ joined the United Reformed Church - itself a union of Presbyterians and Congregationalists. Later, in 2000, most of the Congregational Union of Scotland joined the URC making us a diverse, fun, yet united body of Christians. Our building was designed by Miller & Black in 1908 in a style known as Arts & Crafts Gothic and built in red sandstone. Come and experience friendship, fellowship and acceptance with us; people of all ages and backgrounds are welcome. Our minister is the Rev'd Andy Braunston who works with ourselves and our friends at Barrhead and Stewarton URCs.
