Prison Fellowship Scotland Offering Hope to Prisoners, their Families and our Communities.....

Prison Fellowship Scotland is a non-denominational Christian charity working with prisoners, ex-prisoners and their families. Through dedicated field staff and over 120 volunteers working in Scotland's prisons - and outside through prayer - the Fellowship operates as a resource to prison chaplaincy in changing lives through the proclamation of the good news of Jesus Christ.

This Volunteers’ Week I want to take a moment to say thank you to all our Prison Fellowship Scotland volunteers. For more than 40 years, we’ve had the privilege of going into Scottish prisons, meeting with men and women offering hope – and joining in with what God is doing in the lives of those in prison. Over that time, our volunteers have made a huge difference in the lives of people who are so often judged and forgotten by society.

So thank you for your time, your commitment, and your willingness to make a difference. You are helping to bring hope to people in prison, to their families and to our communities.

🌟 It's Volunteers' Week 2026! 🌟

From 1 to 7 June, we are celebrating the incredible volunteers who make our work possible across Scotland.

To every member of the Prison Fellowship Scotland volunteer team, thank you. For more than 40 years, we have been going into Scottish prisons, bringing hope and you are a vital part of that mission.

Every day, you make a difference in the lives of people who are so often judged and forgotten. Through your kindness, faith, compassion, and commitment, you show that no one is beyond God's love, mercy, or forgiveness.

The need is great, but so is the impact you are making.

Thank you for your time, your dedication, and your heart for serving others. We are deeply grateful for all that you do. 💛

📢 We now have just a couple of days left before applications close for the two vacancies we have at Prison Fellowship Scotland.

If you know anyone who might be suitable, please do pass on the information to them. And if you think this could be you, then why not apply?

We are excited by what we get to do in the prisons of Scotland, joining in with what God is doing as he draws people to himself and brings about restoration.

All information on the two posts can be found in the link in the comments 👇

"When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit..." Acts 2:1-4

Today we pray for a contagious joy to rise among believers in prison, and for the Holy Spirit to move powerfully in their hearts. We pray that today’s worship in prison chapels would be Spirit-filled and life-giving. May everyone who attends know the peace and near presence of God.

🧠 New Blog: What Happens After Release? The Mental Health Crisis Facing People Leaving Prison

A major Scottish study has revealed the mental health crisis facing people leaving prison, with former prisoners far more likely to experience mental health emergencies and substance-related harm after release.

In our latest blog, Graeme Shaw reflects on the findings of the RELEASE study, the hope of Psalm 57, and why compassionate support matters beyond the prison gate.

Wonderful to see families at HMP Shotts enjoying a special Easter event, made possible with support from Angel Tree and other partners. From crafts and sweet treats to a bouncy castle and photo stations, the day created precious memories for children and their loved ones. We’re grateful that Angel Tree, part of Prison Fellowship Scotland’s ministry, could help make these moments of connection possible.

🧠 Mental Health Awareness Week | 11–17 May 2026

Mental health struggles are often invisible.

A 2022 Mental Welfare Commission for Scotland report found that 76% of people entering Scotland’s prisons have a history of mental ill-health.

Like David crying out to God from the cave in Psalm 57, we pray that those struggling with their mental health in prison would know the shelter of God’s wings and the hope found in Him.

This week, we pray for everyone affected by mental health struggles in and beyond prison walls.

💚 For peace in the storm
💚 For support at the right time
💚 For compassion throughout the justice system
💚 For hope that no one is beyond reach

“Lord, hear their voices.”
