Dealing with the Barriers to Your Fruitfulness
Ministering: Francis Alao
Today, the promotion of wisdom is nothing new. From the beginning the serpent deceived Eve that eating from the tree would give them wisdom to be like God. The same way today people become curious to gain some knowledge and wisdom they can use to their advantage.
Ames said if anyone lacks wisdom let him ask God who gives generously (James 1.5). God was available and accessible to Adam and Eve in the cool of the day. They could have asked Him for wisdom but they wanted to obtain wisdom through the back door to be like God from the black market. No wonder God asked them, “Who told you that you are naked? Have you eaten of the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?”(Genesis 3.11). God knew the only reason Adam could feel naked was if he had disobeyed His divine command.
Curiosity leads to disloyalty and disloyalty leads to disobedience and disobedience strips people naked. Don’t allow curiosity to make you seek wisdom in the wrong places for it usually strips people naked either of their authority or glory, or the both. In your family setting, organisation or service to God, mind how you seek knowledge and wisdom. Any knowledge that makes you to doubt or mistrust your parents or doubt God’s love for you will lead to no good. Disobedience promises some wisdom but obedience offers the best wisdom. Adam and Eve were better off until they bought the lie of trying to be like God. But after eating the fruit of disobedience, their eyes were truly open but only to see their own nakedness, not God’s nakedness. So they started hiding behind trees. They lost their confidence and dignity.
