Dealing with the Barriers to Your Fruitfulness

Ministering: Francis Alao

Today, the promotion of wisdom is nothing new. From the beginning the serpent deceived Eve that eating from the tree would give them wisdom to be like God. The same way today people become curious to gain some knowledge and wisdom they can use to their advantage.

Ames said if anyone lacks wisdom let him ask God who gives generously (James 1.5). God was available and accessible to Adam and Eve in the cool of the day. They could have asked Him for wisdom but they wanted to obtain wisdom through the back door to be like God from the black market. No wonder God asked them, “Who told you that you are naked? Have you eaten of the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?”(Genesis 3.11). God knew the only reason Adam could feel naked was if he had disobeyed His divine command.

Curiosity leads to disloyalty and disloyalty leads to disobedience and disobedience strips people naked. Don’t allow curiosity to make you seek wisdom in the wrong places for it usually strips people naked either of their authority or glory, or the both. In your family setting, organisation or service to God, mind how you seek knowledge and wisdom. Any knowledge that makes you to doubt or mistrust your parents or doubt God’s love for you will lead to no good. Disobedience promises some wisdom but obedience offers the best wisdom. Adam and Eve were better off until they bought the lie of trying to be like God. But after eating the fruit of disobedience, their eyes were truly open but only to see their own nakedness, not God’s nakedness. So they started hiding behind trees. They lost their confidence and dignity.

Celebration Sunday // Pentecost Sunday

The Day of Pentecost was an historical moment in the history of the Church. It was a defining and kairos moment in the trajectory of the move of the Holy Spirit on earth generally and particularly in the lives of the children of God. It is not what happened on the day that is worth celebrating but what happened in the believers on that day. Pentecost was a Jewish festival fifty days after the Passover. Jesus was crucified during the Passover celebration. 7 weeks later, on the day of Pentecost, the risen Lord Jesus fulfilled the promise He had made that He would send the Holy Spirit (John 15.26). . John the Baptist had promised: The one who comes after me "will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire" (Luke 3.16). So at 9:00 on Pentecost morning, while the disciples were praying, "a sound came from heaven like a rush of mighty wind . . . and there appeared to them tongues as of fire, distributed and resting on each one of them." (Acts 2.2-4).

Four categoric things happened on the day of Pentecost. First, as they were praying the Holy Spirit Himself (the 3rd Person of the Trinity Godhead came and divided Himself. He filled the believers in the place with so much fire that the smoke like tongues of fire was seen resting on their heads (Acts 2.1-4). Second, the multitude who were already in Jerusalem from all walks of life came together to see what was happening. Just like God used the fire of a burning bush to draw the attention of Moses, fire draws men’s attention (Acts 2.5-11). Third, Peter preached his first and most powerful raw gospel message to the people from all walks of life (Acts 2.14-36). Fourth, the people responded to the Gospel message through a genuine repentance (Acts 2.37-40). Fifth, the church experienced an exponential growth from 120 to well over 3000 (Acts 2.41). Sixth, the church experienced fellowship, signs and wonders (Acts 2.42). That was the formation and beginning of the church, a move of God that Satan feared so much.
