We’ve just celebrated the funeral of Joan McConville. The whole community shocked at the suddenness of her going and her community filled the church to bid her farewell. She was a gentle lovely soul - our condolences to Robert, Maria - her special grandson - Declan: to Sean, Barry, sister Monica and the whole extended family. The parish too grieves one of our own and prays she is reunited with George and their son, George. Rest in eternal peace, Joan.

Spare a prayer for Pope Leo - due for surgery probably next week?

Pope Leo XIV has announced that he will undergo surgery to remove a nodule in his lung, detected at an early stage. The Holy Father has expressed his gratitude for the prayers and support of the faithful.

Let us keep Pope Leo XIV in our prayers, asking the Lord to guide his doctors and grant him a successful surgery and a speedy recovery.

Delighted to welcome the new S1 at John Paul Academy and host their 6 classes over 6 retreat days here at the parish. Getting to know each other and getting to know about their house saints and getting to know how special they each are. Huge thanks to RE & pastoral care departments and to support staff and for folks here for feeding and watering 150 teenagers 🤪

Please spare a prayer for Mark McCaughan who has died suddenly and way too young. This is the third funeral from this family - first his mum, Betty, then his dad, Michael. Our most sincere sympathy to his brother Brian - devastated by this 3rd loss. To aunt Anne, uncle Pat and the whole extended family of nephews, cousins and family - a promise of a prayer for Mark’s peace - and that that gift touch Brian and you all.
