Thinking of the outcome of ACC-19, it reminds me that those who are attached to institutions like Canterbury, Lambeth and even the ACC at the expense of theological integrity will undoubtedly learn the bitter lesson eloquently articulated in David Virtue words “institutional loyalty without theological integrity is not faithfulness but sentimentality.” He further to insist that “Institutions that have known orthodox Christianity and rejected it are not neutral territory awaiting reclamation. They are under judgment. Their condition is worse than if they had never been evangelical at all.” GAFCON was right all along that fighting with compromised structures was doomed to fail. But for a true renewal, the authority of Scripture must be front, back and centre as well as theological integrity - that is faithfulness.
