We have been asked to announce and share the news, that on Sunday 3rd May 2026, Greta died peacefully in the care of Bowgreave Rise Residential home, aged 85.

Born and raised in Ulverston, when it was still part of Lancashire, Greta devoted her life to the care, encouragement and education of others. Rarely seen without one of her distinctive hats, she became affectionately known by many as “the lady in the hat.”

Faith and community were central to Greta’s life. She was a devoted and active member of her local church throughout her life, living with generosity, compassion and quiet strength. She gave freely of her time, encouragement and love, touching the lives of countless people along the way.
