East and Old Church was brought about by a union of the Old Parish Church (our current site) and East Church in 1977. Our building was constructed in 1790/91 and over the years has gone through some substantial renovations to make it fit for purpose for that time. The most recent renovations were completed in 2017. Inverarity Church was built in 1754 and has undergone a few upgrades over the years

as well as building an adjacent church hall in 1994. Inverarity and Kinnettles Parish had a union with Glamis Church in 1996 which was a successful union. However, in 2023 due to changes in the National Church structure, it became clear to the members of Inverarity Church they would be better situated if they joined with East and Old Church, and this became official on 29 October 2023, which then formed our current parish of East, Old and Inverarity.

On Sunday evening Presbytery of Perth welcomed the Moderator of the Church of Scotland Rt Rev Rosie Frew to a Songs of Praise in Broughty Ferry Parish Church where she presented Long Service Certificates to 37 elders and choir members from the area. Among these were Elders from Forfar East, Old & Inverarity pictured L to R Bruce Tyrie, Anne Watt and her husband Robin Watt with the Moderator. Congratulations to them.
Taking part were the Perth Moderator and Presbytery Clerk, the host ministers and choir and attending were Provost of Dundee and Lord Lieutenant of Angus. This marked the end of the Moderator’s visit to the Presbytery and the last few days of her year of office, as she hands over to Rev Gordon Kennedy at the Assembly Hall in Edinburgh on May 15.
