Save Our Lychgate! Capel-le-Ferne St. Mary's, Lychgate Appeal
This lychgate has stood at the entrance to the Churchyard since 1894 when Captain and Mrs Arthur Morris donated it to the village to celebrate their marriage. For nearly 130 years it has, as might be expected, needed running repairs from time to time given its exposed location. These have been enough to maintain it – until now.
An architect’s survey has shown that rot has penetrated the frame and joints. Some of these joints are opening up, and the structure is moving as a result. Extensive restoration work will soon be required if the lychgate is to remain.

Please help by donating whatever you can spare to the St. Mary's Lychgate Appeal, or perhaps consider holding a coffee morning or other fundraising event. We would love to be able to ensure that our lychgate survives for future generations to enjoy.
