Churchyards, burial grounds and cemeteries are a rich source of bio-diversity for plant and animal life, especially now that more and more are being allowed to grow wild. CotH may not have our own, but there are many around in our town, local villages, near our schools etc. Could you and a friend spare a little time to visit a burial ground, discover and record the, perhaps unexpected, treasures lurking within, for the Churches Count on Nature? For further information go to the Arocha website https://arocha.org.uk/, or directly download the iNaturalist app and join the Beautiful Burial Grounds project.

The word "Pentecost" comes from the Greek word "pentekoste" which means fiftieth. Pentecost iscelebrated on the seventh Sunday after Easter which is fifty days after Easter.
Penecost, also called Whitsun or Whit Sunday, is the celebration of the coming of the Holy Spirit to the first disciples.
This year Pentecost was on the 24th May.

May the peace of the Lord Christ go with you wherever he may send you; may he guide you through the wilderness.
Protect you through the storm; may he bring you home rejoicing at the wonders he has shown you; may he bring you home rejoicing, once again into our doors.
Amen

Faith and Thought Book Group
The Church on the Heath's Faith and Thought Book Group are currently studying The Jesus Creed by Dr Scot McKnight, and invite you to join in the discussion. Join us for a cuppa and some lively conversation, usually on the first Sunday of every month at 7.30pm in the coffee bar.
Scot is a Professor of New Testament Studies. The blurb: "When an expert in the law of Moses asked Jesus for the greatest commandment, Jesus responded with the Shema, the ancient Jewish creed that commands Israel to love God with heart, soul, mind, and strength. But the next part of Jesus' answer would change the course of history. Jesus amended the Shema, giving his followers a new creed for life: to love God with heart, soul, mind, and strength, but also to love others as themselves.
This is what Scot McKnight calls the 'Jesus Creed'. He has written this book for all Christians who want to find out how it can transform their lives - and the lives of those around them."
Discussion schedule:
7 June – Chapters 4 - 6
5 July – Chapter 6 - TBC
The book is available via online (new and used) and is also available as an e-book (which can come with assistive reading).
