WARNING!! Pay attention folks, don’t look away.

The annual state of the climate report was published yesterday by the World Meteorological Organisation. It confirms that 2015-2025 are the hottest 11-years on record. Extreme events around the world, including intense heat, heavy rainfall and tropical cyclones, caused disruption and devastation and highlighted the vulnerability of our inter-connected economies. The extreme weather has impacts on agricultural production, and climate-driven food insecurity is a risk to our social stability.

Our addiction to fossil fuels is destabilizing both the climate and global security.

It’s not going to get better unless we demand that our governments do something about it.

IT’S YOUR TIME TO CHOOSE.
ARE YOU GOING TO SPEAK OUT?
OR ARE YOU GOING TO LET THIS HAPPEN?

Great to hear Dave telling us about his work with Christian Climate Action at our morning worship in Barrow Gurney church yesterday. He described how we should pray for the Earth….as well as take personal action…maybe by switching to a bank that doesn’t invest in fossil fuels or by stopping flying. The third principle he mentioned was being prophetic…as active Christians we need to take a stand and make our voices heard. We have a duty to care for the beautiful world that we live in and time is running out.

Rob made a prototype swift nest box for Flax Bourton church tower, with a couple of adjustments it should be ready to go very soon.

We’ve had an electric socket installed up the tower too so we’ll be able to plug in a ‘caller’ to play swift calls in the hope of attracting residents! This will probably be more effective than what we tried last year which was the churchwarden on the roof with a megaphone 📣 shouting ‘Here, Swiftie, Swiftie, Swiftie!’ 🤪

Thanks to Stancombe quarry for sponsoring this project.
