Day 25! Christmas Day 🎄

Today’s carol was chosen by Rev. Gordon Jones and he has chosen O Holy Night.

“For me, 'O Holy Night' is just wonderful. It begins so simply, explaining quietly what happened on that holy night so long ago and why it matters. Then - boom! - we grasp its supreme importance and we call spontaneously on others to join us in falling to our knees in grateful adoration.

I love the theme of light. At first only heaven's stars are 'brightly shining', then, while still nighttime, the new-born Jesus is humanity's 'new and glorious morn!' While still night, those who come to Him in faith have 'glowing hearts'. It's still nighttime, but the darkness is overcome.

As the lyrics continue, more is revealed about the identity and mission of the baby. He is our humble king, our understanding friend, our gentle teacher, our great liberator, the reconciler of humanity, and God with us.

A truly majestic melody complements the deeply moving lyrical arc. 'O Holy Night' never fails to inspire awe in me, and I encourage others to listen afresh to its message and experience the genuine 'thrill of hope' in Jesus.”
