Happy New Year!

In view of the wintry weather and that the forecast isn't great, with fresh snow falling on ice, we have decided to cancel worship tomorrow. We would much rather folk remain safe and warm than risk falls on the way and from to the hall.

I'm sure you will understand.

Although we have put a note on our Facebook group and page, can you let people know who we might miss. Better for folk to get more than one message than none at all! Thanks!

Sunday 21st December at 10.30 am there will be a service of Lessons and Carols.
At 6.00pm we will have a Candlight Carol service followed by refreshments. You are welcome to join with us at both of these meetings.

I am currently in Rome where I am attending the funeral service for Pope Francis with The Salvation Army’s leaders for Italy and Greece Lieut-Colonels Andrew and Darlene Morgan.

Earlier this week, I wrote to the Vatican expressing my deepest condolences to the Roman Catholic Church on behalf of the global Salvation Army.

The Salvation Army extends condolences to the Roman Catholic Church and Roman Catholics worldwide following the death of Pope Francis on Monday 21 April 2025, aged 88 years.

‘From humble beginnings,’ said General Lyndon Buckingham, ‘his focus on God’s mercy, dedication to environmental stewardship, and deep concern for the poor and vulnerable have made a great and lasting legacy.

‘The Salvation Army is also appreciative of Pope Francis’s unwavering commitment to interfaith discourse and is grateful for the ecumenical dialogue fostered under his papacy.’

3pm. Meeting at the hall led by Major David.
Easter Sunday
7am. Country Car Park. Churches Together Sunrise Service followed by breakfast at our hall.
10.30am Easter Worship at our hall.

Friday 29th November we will be holding a Christmas coffee morning that will run alongside our pop up charity shop. As well as being able to browse the shop, you will be able to buy cakes and other goodies at our cake stall. Coffee and tea will be available with mince pies and bacon rolls. We look forward to seeing you all.

This Saturday 3rd August at The Salvation Army in Mitford Street Filey we will be holding a summer coffee morning from 10 am til 12 noon. Cake stall, bric a brac etc. Tea, coffee. Bacon Sandwiches. Everyone welcome.
