This morning I’ve been busy collecting donations, 2 full car loads 😁

Massive thank you to all the children, parents and staff at Willow Green Academy for this amazing donation ❤️

It weighed in at a whopping 169.34kg 😁

For context, a standard parcel for a single person weighs around 9kg and a family parcel (2 adults 2 children) weighs around 20kg, so this will help a lot of people.

As many of you are aware, we are currently in the process of merging with Pontefract Foodbank. As part of the process some work needs to be carried out on the database and I have been notified that I will be unable to access the system on Friday 3rd April (Good Friday).

As such we have made the decision not to open on Good Friday this year, so we are advising clients to plan accordingly.

Thank you to Josh Clarke from the Veterans Allotment Wakefield District CIC for removing, and reusing the decking from in front of the Uniform Bank’s container. The decking was stopping the door opening and preventing the Uniform Bank from operating 😢.

Now what’s needed is some hardcore/gravel to go down as the ground is likely to get quite muddy in wet weather. The Uniform Bank has no income whatsoever and April Wetherall runs it in her own time, completely free of charge purely to help the community, so there are no funds available to purchase any gravel. Knottingley Foodbank has provided the container, rent free, for the Uniform Bank to use.

If there’s any local contractors out there who could donate a bit of hardcore/gravel to help out it would be greatly appreciated. 🙏

IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM OUR TRUSTEES.

We would like to inform all our followers that Pontefract and Knottingley foodbanks are planning to merge at the beginning of April this year.

Pontefract and Knottingley Foodbanks have both independently served their respective localities as part of the Trussell Trust network for many years. In more recent times, operating in the charity sector has seen a significant increase in the amount of governance required from Trustees and it is becoming more difficult to find people who have the required skills and time to undertake Trustee roles.

Furthermore, it has become evident that there would be advantages to both charities in working closer together.

Please be assured that we do not plan to change anything regarding the services we provide or the way our volunteers work. We will continue to operate out of both our Pontefract and Knottingley bases and have no plans to change this.
