How do you stop worrying, especially if you’re a worrywart? According to Paul, it’s as simple as praying about everything and thanking God for everything too. Gratitude is the opposite of feeling entitled to rights or benefits a person may or may not have worked for. It can be difficult to alway...

Leah and Rachel were sisters, wives of Jacob, and mothers of Israel’s twelve tribes. At first glance, their lives might seem filled with family rivalry, longing, and daily struggles yet their stories teach us that God’s grace transforms ordinary lives into extraordinary journeys of faith....

1st June 2026

This verse reminded me of an ewe we gained as a helpless lamb. We had been visiting another sheep farm, and in a pen was an ewe with a deformed lamb. It would soon die, the owner said. My daughter took an interest in it and the shepherd said she could have it if she caught it. That was the wrong thing to say because she quickly jumped in the pen and brought it out....

Here's our update for this week. Why not join us for our service this Sunday 31st May, 11am at Farcet Village Hall near Peterborough, followed by refreshments?

This Sunday, we will be turning to the second of Paul’s letters to the church at Corinth, and to his closing comments (2 Corinthians 13:11–13). As the apostle writes, there are factions in the Corinthian church, including an element that has both maligned his person and undermined his apostleshi...

31st May 2026

Paul’s closing blessing of his second letter to the Corinthians is more than a final farewell, it is a window into the very life of God and our participation in it. Each phrase draws us into a relationship already established for us in Jesus Christ. The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ reminds us that everything begins with what Christ has done, not what we achieve....

30th May 2026

Names matter. They carry meaning, identity, and story. To speak a name is to acknowledge who someone is and how we are related to them. When Scripture speaks of God’s name, it is never casual. It is an invitation to wonder, worship, and relationship. On Trinity Sunday, we pause to rejoice in God’s majestic name – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit....

29th May 2026

John chapter 9 records an event which occurred in The Temple at Jerusalem, during the autumn festival of Sukkot, just 6 months before the crucifixion. Earlier, during a heated exchange with the Jewish religious leaders, Jesus had declared himself “I am”, signifying his divinity and pre-existence before the patriarch, Abraham (John 8:58). In response to this declaration, the Jewish authorities took up stones to kill him, yet Jesus skilfully eluded them (v.59)....

28th May 2026

We don’t hear about wisdom much anymore. Even older people, who used to be considered wise, are often seen as out of touch, old fashioned and unfortunately, narrow-minded. It’s still a much-needed commodity – don’t we all wish it were more prevalent in our governments? Wisdom is worth seeking. It doesn’t come all at once, but through experience and by following the principles offered in our header scripture, especially yielding to others....

27th May 2026

We are told that Jesus had done many miracles during the Passover celebration, and that because of this, many people had begun to trust in him and began to believe that God had sent him. Jesus was able to look into everyone’s heart and discern their true intentions. He knew how easy it was for them to love someone one day and betray them the next, and so he did not trust them....

26th May 2026

As Rebekah’s story unfolds it reflects a foundational truth in the way God works with human beings: God acts first – grace precedes human response. Before Rebekah ever speaks, chooses, or acts, God is already at work. In Genesis 24, Abraham sent his senior servant to find a wife for his son Issac (vv.1-4). Concerned that the selected woman would be unwilling to come back with him (v.5) the servant stopped for water and prayed that the Lord would grant him success and show…...
