Our Bible verses this week are:

Jeremiah 13 v 23: “Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the Leopard his spots? Then may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil."

2 Corinthians 5 v 17: “Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away: behold all things are become new."

Both scripture verses talk about things that cannot change and something that can. Change or changes are a constant in this world, we change diet, jobs, exercise routines, sleep patterns, retirement plans, etc. These things can all be done though not without difficulty, and not always on our own.

Spiritually speaking we are like the Ethiopian and the leopard, we cannot change what we are - sinners before a holy God. We cannot change on our own merit. We need saving from our sins. Our hearts and souls are at a distance from God and only desire to rebel against His holy word and ways. We need to be changed (be saved from our sins) and the only person that can do this is the Lord Jesus.

Our verse in 2 Corinthians tells us this, "if we are in Christ": if we repent of our sin, believe on His sin sacrifice on the cross of Calvary, and trust in Him for salvation then we are a new creation, a changed person, and the former things (“accustomed to do evil”) will stop as we have a new eternal life in the Lord Jesus. Life will not become a bed of roses but with the indwelling Holy Spirit, we obtain help in every time of need.

Examples of folks that were changed when they met the Lord Jesus are:

Mark 1 v 40-42: a man that was a l***r was cured of his disease, by the touch of Jesus and having faith that the Lord could cure him.
Luke 18 v 35-43: a blind man received his sight because he had faith in the Lord Jesus that he was able to do so.
John 11 v 1 - 44: the story of Martha ,Mary and Lazarus, and how when Lazarus died his sisters had faith that the Lord Jesus could raise him from the dead, which he did so the people would believe on Him as the true Son of God with power.

Are you still a sinner in your sin? Do you desire to be changed and be saved from your sins?
This can be your portion today. “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved".

Our Bible verses this week were Psalm 32 v 1-5. The opening word of these verses is "Blessed" or happy.

What is true happiness we may ask? It can only be found when our deepest need is met by God in the salvation of our soul.

There are 3 headings to consider in these opening verses of Psalm 32.

1) THE BLESSINGS OF SALVATION (v 1&2)

What a blessing it is to know that all your transgressions (wrong doings) and sin is covered (taken away), and that the Lord will not hold them against the sinner (imputes not iniquity). This is all possible because the Lord Jesus, the perfect Son of God died on the cross at Calvary for the sin of the world, and God is able to forgive our sin and see us as righteous because of the work of the Lord Jesus on the cross.

2.THE BUILD UP TO SALVATION (V 3&4)

The biggest problem each sinner has is pride. They do not think they are bad enough and are not like others (the parable of the pharisee and the publican in Luke 18v13). The Psalmist David kept silent (resisting the conviction of his sin) even though he knew he needed salvation (bones waxed old through my roaring daily).
He knew God was speaking to him about his sin (thy hand was heavy upon me).

Sinner friend, what is keeping you or holding you back from confessing your sin and asking God for forgiveness?

3.THE MOMENT OF SALVATION (V 5)

This is the time when David realised he was a sinner before God (I acknowledged my sin) and he confessed his sin (mine iniquity have I not hid, and I will confess my transgressions unto the Lord) and he was forgiven, and then could rejoice as in v 1&2.

We cannot do anything about our sin. We are born in sin and have a sinful nature BUT 1 John 1 v9 says: "if we confess our sin, he (the Lord Jesus) is faithful and just to forgive us our sins , and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness".

We would plead with you to come to the Saviour today and have the joy of sins forgiven and a home in Heaven.

Our Bible verses this week were Luke 19 v 1-10, these are the narrative regarding Zacchaeus meeting the Lord Jesus.

The key verse is v 10: “For the Son of Man is come to seek and save that which are lost".

It very easy to get lost if we are in an unfamiliar place, we can go in the wrong direction and arrive at the wrong destination. In the modern world we have various means to guide us: maps, sat nav, sign posts, etc., to ensure we reach the correct destination. The same applies to our spiritual destination. There are 2 ways: the broad way and the narrow way. We are all born on the broad road which leads to destruction and ultimately Hell and the Lake of Fire. The only good thing about this road is that it is broad enough for a U-turn onto the narrow way which leads to eternal life and a home in Heaven.

The broad road in general is a religious way, a way where everyone attempts on their own to do something to please God and be accepted by Him, but all are lost in their sinful ways and cannot meet the standard of perfection that God demands.

The narrow road is a way of redemption, that is God’s way. He has provided salvation through His beloved Son, the Lord Jesus by His life on earth as a perfect man, His death on the cross for the sin of all the world and His glorious resurrection to give to those that believe in Him eternal life and a home in Heaven.

3 things that need pointing out from our verses:

1) A SEEKING SINNER: Zacchaeus was a seeking sinner. He was determined to see Jesus even though he was small. He was despised by his own folks because he was a tax collector which made him rich but he humbled himself to seek out the Lord Jesus.

2) A SEEKING SAVIOUR: The Lord Jesus is a seeking Saviour. Wherever there is a seeking sinner, the Lord Jesus will be there seeking for them. He knew Zacchaeus was looking for Him, and he stopped at the tree and invited himself to Zacchaeus's house. The response from Zacchaeus was immediate, and he received the Lord joyfully.

3. A SAVING SAVIOUR: Zacchaeus received salvation that day from the Lord Jesus. He repented of his sin, gave back what he had taken falsely his whole life and his outlook was changed forever. He was no longer lost in his sinful corrupt world but saved and rejoicing in his salvation.

We would urge anyone who is lost in sin, to repent and believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ today. Do not put it off any longer! The Bible says “Behold, now is the accepted time; behold now is the day of salvation".
