Eid mubarak to our Muslim friends and neighbours

18/02/2026

As the first night of Ramadan begins, we’re thinking of the refugees and people seeking asylum across Scotland who are observing this month while navigating new systems, new communities, and often, real uncertainty.

Ramadan is a time for reflection and generosity. For many in our community, it’s also a time without extended family, familiar places, or financial security.

If you’re marking Ramadan, we wish you a peaceful and steady month ahead. If you’re looking to support others, this is a meaningful time to stand alongside those rebuilding their lives here in Scotland.

An interfaith peace vigil marking Black History Month will take place in Falkirk on 4 October, bringing together people of different faiths and the wider community for reflection, readings, music, and prayer.

The Rev Aaron Moffat-Jackman, Rector of St Saviour’s, Bridge of Allan, and St Modoc’s, Doune, is one of the event organisers. He said: "As the Scottish Episcopal Church, we gather to witness to Christ’s call to love our neighbours, pursue justice, and work for peace. In celebrating cultural diversity and the achievements of Black communities, we seek to embody the gospel values of solidarity, hope, and reconciliation in this country and beyond."

The event will run from 4pm, at Helix Park, Falkirk, at the Peace Pole on the first Saturday in October and is open to everyone. Faith leaders and community members from various traditions will contribute readings and reflections.

This is the second year of the Forth Valley Interfaith Peace Vigil, part of a wider programme of events for Black History Month coordinated locally by Forth Valley Black History Month. Last year’s vigil took place at St Saviour’s Episcopal Church, Bridge of Allan, offering a meaningful space to reflect on Black leadership, resilience, and cultural heritage.

CSREC condemns the hateful behaviour witnessed outside the Cladhan Hotel on 16th August. While we uphold the right to peaceful protest, what occurred was a display of racism, dangerous rhetoric, and dehumanising actions that have no place in Falkirk or anywhere in Scotland. We stand with those targeted by hate and call on our community to reject division and uphold dignity, safety, and respect for all.
