An interfaith peace vigil marking Black History Month will take place in Falkirk on 4 October, bringing together people of different faiths and the wider community for reflection, readings, music, and prayer.
The Rev Aaron Moffat-Jackman, Rector of St Saviour’s, Bridge of Allan, and St Modoc’s, Doune, is one of the event organisers. He said: "As the Scottish Episcopal Church, we gather to witness to Christ’s call to love our neighbours, pursue justice, and work for peace. In celebrating cultural diversity and the achievements of Black communities, we seek to embody the gospel values of solidarity, hope, and reconciliation in this country and beyond."
The event will run from 4pm, at Helix Park, Falkirk, at the Peace Pole on the first Saturday in October and is open to everyone. Faith leaders and community members from various traditions will contribute readings and reflections.
This is the second year of the Forth Valley Interfaith Peace Vigil, part of a wider programme of events for Black History Month coordinated locally by Forth Valley Black History Month. Last year’s vigil took place at St Saviour’s Episcopal Church, Bridge of Allan, offering a meaningful space to reflect on Black leadership, resilience, and cultural heritage.
