For our prayers

The collect and readings for Trinity Sunday
Sunday 31 May
Almighty and everlasting God, you have given us your servants grace, by the confession of a true faith, to acknowledge the glory of the eternal Trinity and in the power of the divine majesty to worship the Unity: keep us steadfast in this faith, that we may evermore be defended from all adversities; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

Isaiah 40:12-17
2 Corinthians 13:11-13
Matthew 28:16-20

We pray this week for the residents of Marley Road, Shackleton Close and Booth Way; for our local schools, staff, students and families as they return to school, exams and work ; and for those on our prayer list.

For our Prayers
The collect and readings for Pentecost
Sunday 24 May

God, who as at this time taught the hearts of your faithful people by sending to them the light of the Holy Spirit: grant us by the same Spirit to have a right judgement in all things and evermore to rejoice in his holy comfort; through the merits of Jesus Christ our Saviour, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
Acts 2:1-21
1 Corinthians 12:3b-13
John 20:19-23

Holy Spirit, on this day of Pentecost, fill Your Church again with boldness, love and faith. Drive out fear, unite every nation and language, and set our hearts on fire with a passion to share Christ with the world. Amen
(MU daily prayer)

This week we pray for the residents of The Marles and Elizabeth Road and for those on our prayer list.

For our prayers
Today, Sunday 17 May, we celebrated our Patronal Festival of St John the Evangelist (yes, we know it’s 4 months late!).

The collect and readings for today
Merciful Lord, cast your bright beams of light upon the Church: that, being enlightened by the teachings of your blessed apostle and evangelist St John, we may so walk in the light of your truth that we may at last attain to the light of everlasting life; through Jesus Christ your incarnate Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

Exodus 33:7-11a
1 John 1:1-10
John 21:19b-25

Lord, we thank you for new beginnings. Do new things in our homes, finances and communities. Open rivers in wilderness places. Release fresh opportunities, divine strategies and heavenly wisdom. Amen
(MU daily prayer)

This week we pray for the residents of Scott Drive and for those on our prayer list.

For our prayers
The collect and readings for Sunday 10 May
(Rogation Sunday)
God our redeemer, you have delivered us from the power of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of your Son: grant, that as by his death he has recalled us to life, so by his continual presence in us, he may raise us to eternal joy; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

Acts 17:22-31
1 Peter 13-22
John 14: 15-21

Father, we come before You with open hearts, ready to receive Your grace. Let Your favour rest on our homes, ministries and communities. Give us fresh ideas, open doors and and new opportunities. Bring breakthrough where it is needed, joy where it is lacking, and favour that draws the right people and resources into our lives. Amen
(MU daily prayer)

This week we pray for the residents of Travershes Close; for farmers, fishermen and all those who work to provide and bring us the food and water upon which we depend; and for those on our prayer list.
