Starfish: Mentoring in Primary & Secondary Schools

Why not join our online Open Evening tonight (Tuesday 2nd May) at 7pm online? Our Open Evenings are an opportunity to find our what Starfish is all about. You don’t have to sign up or commit to anything! Come and meet our friendly team, and find out more about this exciting new outreach initiative, including details of our training programme and the resources and support available.

Starfish is a Salvation Army Mentoring Programme for children and young people in both primary and secondary schools (ages 9-16 years). Starfish has been developed over the past two years by our Children & Youth Team - so that you can provide your local schools with a free service that will have a real impact on the lives of children and young people.

Starfish is a Universal Plus service, which can be offered to schools free of charge. It provides early help, focused on emotional health and wellbeing (including personal development and life skills). Working within a school’s student wellbeing support, Starfish provides committed and trusted adults to work with young people who need some additional support without which they would be at risk of not meeting their full potential.

If you’re passionate about taking your ministry into schools then Starfish is for you.

Training for Starfish Mentors is coming up in June 2023. Just four evening sessions online & one day in-person for Mentors, with further training for Co-ordinators. You’ll be guided and resourced by our team of practitioners and you’ll be ready to offer support to the children and young people in your community - right in the places where they are.
