Fancy a bit of fresh air one evening next week? We're holding an evening workparty between 6.30pm and 8.00pm next Wednesday, 3 June and it would be lovely if you could join us. We'll be doing some weeding along the lower cremation plot path (not nearly as big at the plot at the top!) and (numbers allowing) making sure the brambles are overhanging paths and driveways.

Feel welcome to join us at any point - just bring yourself and workgloves with decent footwear. See you there!

Our Church is full of symbolism, even before you come in!

Here you can see Victorian carving in stone on the main doorway, which imitates a popular medieval style, depicting vines and grapes.

This is rich in theology, particularly Jesus’ saying that he was “the true vine” and that we are “the branches”, and it prefigures the “fruit of the vine” used in the Eucharist.

Next time you pop into the Church, do pause and look up, you never know what you will find!

Our wonderful Sacristan, Paul, pictured with the altar frontal in the St George’s Chapel, all ready for Pentecost tomorrow.

The vestments and frontals change to red tomorrow to represent the fire of the Holy Spirit; the same fire which descended on the Apostles in the Upper Room.

8am (Said, 35 mins)
10.30am (Sung, 1hour)

“Come Holy Spirit”

(Pictured is the Gilbert Scott Reredos Panel depicting Pentecost; notice the flames above the heads of those whom the Holy Spirit rested on).
