The Bishop of Plymouth is undertaking a special mini walking pilgrimage across Torbay.

“Going in Prayer”, journeying across Torbay from Combeinteignhead to Stokenham. Along the way, he’ll visit 24 churches, a further education college, and meet with school children, praying, listening, and connecting with communities.

Bishop James said, “When I was first made bishop I walked from Exeter to Plymouth because as an act of basing my episcopal ministry in prayer. I was also keen to get to know something of the people and place where I would be bishop. I’ve been wanting to do something similar ever since and so I’m doing a mini walking prayer pilgrimage from Combeinteignhead to Stokenham. I will be visiting 24 churches and a college of further education as well as meeting school children along the way. It’s a lovely coincidence that I will be finishing on Devon Day, a day to celebrate all things Devon!”

If you spot him along the route, do come and say hello, join in prayer, or walk a stretch together - you’d be very welcome.

There's a heartbreaking situation happening on our doorstep in Plymouth.
By the end of March 2026, 219 children (41 per cent of those in the care of Plymouth City Council), were living outside the city, with 115 placed more than 20 miles from home and one young person located as far as 285 miles away. Most urgently, there are around 26 children who are living in residential care but could move into a home if the right local families were available.

Churches Together In Devon with Plymouth City Council are asking Christians across Plymouth to consider offering foster care to local children who need a safe, nurturing home. We're asking the question: Could you open your home through fostering?

Bubble Churches popping up across Devon!

Bubble Church is a Sunday church service especially for babies, toddlers, and young families. It’s a puppet-packed, Jesus-centred, coffee-and-food-fuelled, 30 minute kids and families adventure. It's so great to see so many churches getting involved with this form of mixed ecology.
