Congratulations to Fr Trayan and the parishioners of Torquay. This will have some impact on our own plans for that Sunday; please watch this space for further details.
✨ *Consecration of the Orthodox Church of St Andrew, Torquay* ✨
Dear brothers and sisters,
A gentle reminder to reserve the weekend of Saturday 20 June and Sunday 21 June for the historic Consecration of the Orthodox Church of St Andrew in Torquay. There are now only 18 days remaining until this blessed and once-in-a-lifetime event.
Saturday Evening – *Eve of the Consecration*
6:00 pm – Festal Vespers
His Grace Bishop Maximos will solemnly bring the holy relics into the church. All the faithful will have the opportunity to venerate them. We are still awaiting confirmation of which saint’s relics will be entrusted to our parish.
Sunday – *Consecration Day*
9:00 am – Matins
Following Matins, at approximately 10:30 am, the solemn Consecration of the Church will begin and is expected to last about one hour.
Immediately afterwards, we will celebrate the Divine Liturgy.
The services are expected to continue from 9:00 am until approximately 1:00pm.
*Fellowship and Celebration*
A marquee will be erected in the church courtyard after the service and all are welcome to join us for Bring and Share.
This will also be a great opportunity to meet Bishop Maximos and celebrate together this great milestone in the life of our parish.
We expect the day’s celebrations to conclude around 3:00–4:00 pm.
*For Those Travelling from Afar*
If you are coming from a distance, we strongly encourage you to book accommodation for two nights so that you can participate fully in both the Saturday evening and Sunday services.
*A Once-in-a-Lifetime Event*
In my 35 years in the Church, I have never had the opportunity to attend a church consecration. Such occasions are exceedingly rare and deeply significant. This is a unique blessing for our parish and for all who attend.
Please do not miss this historic and grace-filled event. I look forward to celebrating with you all.
With love in Christ,
Fr. Trayan
