Have you ever looked at your life and thought, "This isn't how I imagined it would be"

Sarah did, and I know I have.

Sarah laughed when she heard God's plans because they seemed so far removed from her reality.

This Sunday we'll explore what happens when faith meets uncertainty, why Abraham sat beneath a tree waiting on God, and what Jesus meant when he said, "The harvest is plentiful."

In a busy and often difficult world, perhaps the answer isn't always to do more, but to learn a different rhythm. I know I need this reminder myself.

What does it mean to:

Sit.
Listen.
Receive.
Go.

Holy Communion Services – Sunday

⛪ THY KINGDOM COME – YOU ARE WARMLY INVITED ⛪

This Sunday across the Bradworthy Benefice we continue our journey between Ascension and Pentecost, a season of prayer, hope, and expectation as we pray together: “Come Holy Spirit.”

🌿 9:30am – Holy Communion at St Peter’s, Thornbury
🌿 11:30am – Holy Communion at St James’, Abbots Bickington
🌿 Morning Prayer this week at St Andrew’s, Sutcombe – 10am daily

In a world full of noise, pressure, and uncertainty, these gatherings offer space to pause, pray, reflect, and encounter the peace and presence of God.

Whether you come every week, have not been to church in years, or are simply curious, you are welcome.

During these ten days of Thy Kingdom Come we are especially praying for five people close to our hearts and asking God to renew our communities through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Come as you are.
Come and pray.
Come Holy Spirit.
Thy Kingdom Come.

What if the God you cannot see is closer than you think?

This Sunday we gather across the Benefice for two very different but deeply hopeful services, each exploring the presence of God in the ordinary moments of life.

🌿 09:30 – Rogation Sunday Holy Communion
📍 St Andrew’s Church, Sutcombe

A traditional Rogation service rooted in prayer for the land, our farming community, creation, and God’s provision. Rogation has been marked by the Church for centuries, asking God’s blessing upon fields, crops, livestock and the life of the community. A thoughtful and reflective service with Holy Communion.

⚡ 11:30 – Family Service
📍 St John the Baptist Church, Bradworthy

A vibrant all-age service asking a big question:

🦸 “If you could be any superhero… who would you be?”

Together we’ll explore the story of the “Unknown God” in Athens, the invisible things that shape our lives, and the hope Christians believe can still change the world today.

Modern music, reflection, hope, laughter, and a message for all ages.

Because perhaps the greatest heroes are not the loudest or strongest… but ordinary people carrying extraordinary hope.

Everyone is very welcome.
Come as you are.
☕ Friendship and refreshments afterwards.

When life doesn’t quite make sense…

Over the next few days, I will be sharing some short(ish) reflections around a question many of us carry about suffering, uncertainty, and what holds when life feels unsettled.

This Sunday, we’ll gently pick up that theme at Bradford and Bradworthy through the story of Stephen and the words of Jesus in John 14.

You don’t need to have read these reflections beforehand this stands on its own.

🕊 This Sunday:

📍 All Saints, Bradford – 9:30am (Holy Communion)
📍 St John the Baptist, Bradworthy – 11:30am (Holy Communion)

There is also a 9:30am Morning Prayer at St Andrew’s, Sutcombe, which follows its usual pattern.

If you’d like to explore the reflections this this week, you will find them here each day Revmarkreflects

All are welcome, whether you come with faith, questions, or simply curiosity.

☕ Stay for a chat afterwards.

🐑 Whose voice are we listening to…? 👂

This Sunday across the Benefice, we’re exploring a simple but powerful question:

in a world full of noise, whose voice do we actually follow?
There are plenty of voices out there telling us to worry, to push harder, to look after ourselves first, but Jesus says something different

“My sheep listen to my voice, I know them, and they follow me.”
And yes, we’re taking that quite literally this week.
At our Family Service in Bradworthy,
you’ll meet a Shepherd and a Sheep 🐑

(expect a bit of humour, a bit of chaos… and maybe something that stays with you longer than you expect).

📍 This Sunday (26th):

⛪ 09:30 – Morning Prayer
All Saints, Bradford

⛪ 09:30 – Holy Communion
St Andrew’s, Sutcombe

⛪ 11:00 – Family Service
St John the Baptist, Bradworthy (with Shepherd & Sheep!)

Whether you’re used to church or just curious,
you would be very welcome.
Come as you are, bring the family,
and perhaps take a moment to pause and listen.

Everyone is welcome

☀️☕ SUNSHINE, CAKE & GOOD COMPANY! ☕☀️

Well would you look at that, the sun has remembered where Bradworthy is! 😄

So this Friday, instead of dodging puddles, why not soak up a bit of sunshine with us at our Church Coffee Morning?

📍 Bradworthy Parish Church
🗓 Friday 24th April
⏰ 10am–12pm

🍰 Cake that may or may not justify a second slice
☕ Coffee strong enough to solve most of life’s problems
😊 A warm welcome (and actual sunshine for once!)

We’re raising funds for the upkeep of our churchyard (which costs around £1,600 a year), so every cuppa really does make a difference.

Bring a friend, bring your smile, and if the weather holds… maybe even your sunglasses 😎

Come for the coffee. Stay for the laughter. Leave a little brighter.

All welcome!

This Sunday

Peace doesn’t pay the bills so what is Jesus talking about when he says, “Peace be with you”?

Right now, everything feels like it’s going up, fuel, heating oil, food, energy.

There’s war in the background.
The economy feels uncertain.
And for many, it’s quietly shifted from living to just getting through, and for many, even that is not possible.

People are worried. And rightly so.

And yet into that, not a calm, sorted life, Jesus says “Peace be with you.” It can sound empty can't it, what!!! Peace, have you seen the news!!

Nothing has changed by saying that, the bills are still there, the worry doesn’t just switch off, but Jesus said those words to people who were scared, shut in, and unsure of the future, it could just as easily be today. Some of them were terrified.

He didn’t fix their situation.
He stepped into it.
Right into the middle of it, and turned everything on its head, but only for those who "got it" Got him.

So this Sunday, we’re not dressing things up, we’re asking it straight, If life isn’t peaceful what kind of peace is this?

If that question feels close to home, you’re not alone.
Come and sit with it. Better still, bring your questions.

Let’s talk about it.

Because Sunday isn’t what it used to be and maybe that’s exactly why this matters.
