This Spring and Summer we will be making some changes to our regular events. End to Tuesday evening drop-in.

Our Tuesday evening drop-in class has been a much-valued part of our programme, and over time a dedicated and committed group has grown from it. In recent months, it has become clear that there is a need to offer an opportunity for regular attendees to deepen their practice.

As a volunteer-led organisation, our resources are limited, so we need to focus our efforts where they can have the most impact. For this reason, we have made the decision to bring the weekly Tuesday drop-in class to a close, with the final session taking place on Tuesday 24th March.

From then on, Tuesday evenings will be dedicated to a new study group. This will be aimed at those who already have a good foundation and would like to take their practice further. If you feel this may be suitable for you but have not yet signed up, please get in touch.

If you are looking for drop-in meditation, there will still be opportunities to take part. We will continue to hold monthly Saturday gatherings, along with occasional online sessions. From September, we plan to increase this to two Saturday sessions each month. Please see our events page for full details.

In addition, Kusalaraja will be exploring the possibility of starting gatherings in Tiverton, Mid Devon in the autumn. If you would like to hear more about this, you are welcome to get in contact.

Beyond rules: being carried by what we practise.

In the final week of this course, we explore what happens when ethics and meditation begin to work together—not as effort or obligation, but as something lived and embodied.

This is not about finishing, but continuing—letting practice shape us, gently and deeply, over time.

Words can build trust, create distance, spark conflict, or deepen connection. This week we’ll explore the power of speech and the impact our words have on the world around us. We’ll look at how greater awareness can help us communicate with more care, honesty, and appreciation.

This week we explore how meditation helps us look honestly at desire and our actions without falling into guilt or self-judgement.

Reflecting on the Third Precept, we’ll look at how our choices affect ourselves and others — and how ethical sensitivity can lead to greater clarity, kindness, and self-respect.

Part of the ongoing drop-in meditation class. All welcome.

*Important change to Tuesday 24th February*

As we announced last night, next Tuesday we will have a change in normal running and take advantage of this wonderful opportunity.

We will be heading to the Exeter Phoenix for a poetry evening with Vishvantara, an Order Member from London.

A great chance to spend some time together, socialise and lean into the artistic and creative realms.

*Book here* https://exeterphoenix.org.uk/events/uncut-poets/

We will meet at the Phoenix and there will be *no meditation evening that night*

The Buddha wasn’t creating rules. He was showing us who we could become.

Not just someone who doesn’t take,
but someone who gives .

Generosity is love in action.

So instead of asking “ What am I allowed to do? ”

Tomorrow night we will be asking: Who do I want to become_?

Ethical guidelines support freedom, they do not restrict it.

*Tomorrow evening; Tuesday 13th Jan* _7:15pm to 9:15pm_

Join Vidyasakhi for week two of the series on the four foundations of mindfulness.

This week we will be exploring, amongst other things, *the importance of pleasure in meditation* - you are allowed to enjoy yourself!

Progress is very unlikely to happen, in fact, without enjoyment. And we'll continue to explore how the way we look after ourselves in daily life feeds into our meditation practice.

*It's a drop-in, so you're welcome if you didn't come last time*

*Saturday 10th January, 10.30am–1pm*

*The Myth of Meditation: Akshobhya, the Vajra, and the Wisdom of the Mirror*

As the new year dawns, join Vidyasakhi for our first Saturday Sangha of 2026: a morning of practice in which we’ll explore the rich symbolism of Akshobhya, the blue Buddha of the Eastern Quarter. Akshobhya’s myth inspires us to work creatively with the poisons of ill will, aversion, and hatred — surely a practice much needed in our challenging world today — by means of the clarity of the vajra and the profound, compassionate wisdom of the mirror. Come and practise with us for the benefit of all beings, and start the new year on the best footing.
