We are SO looking forward to hearing Apricity Trio at our next concert (Friday 11 September at 7:30pm) of what has been a wonderfully successful series. Find out more about this exceptional trio below ahead of experiencing their performance…

Apricity Trio bring together three outstanding young musicians with a shared passion for chamber music and adventurous programming.

Formed at the Royal College of Music in London, Apricity has quickly built a reputation for performances full of colour and character.

For this appearance at St Michael’s, clarinettist Nathan Quilter and cellist Madelaine Napier are joined by Exeter-based pianist Will Lambert, whose dazzling performances here have left audiences spellbound - together, this is a trio of real promise and polish.

The ensemble’s programmes combine much-loved masterpieces with inspired discoveries, and this concert is no exception. We warmly welcome Apricity’s return to St Michael’s with a programme of depth and lyricism, that moves from Spanish sunshine to Brahms’s autumn glow.

Just a week to go before St Michael's opens its doors for the national Heritage Open Days. We're delighted to share our everyday histories and extraordinary treasurers again with everyone. (See link below 👇)

Next Saturday 12th, we're open from 11am to visitors to explore the beautiful interior of this sacred space.
At 2pm, Prof. Anthony Musson will give a fascinating talk on Henry VIII's "royal progress" and explore his influence on St Michael's, even down to our love of hospitality! Afternoon tea is served from 3pm.

On Sunday 13th, Sung Mass of the Holy Cross at 11am includes music from the Tudor period, with a motet known to King Henry and Byrd's Mass for 4 voices, conducted by Anthony Musson.
At 2pm, join Dr Richard Parker on a walking tour of Mount Dinham and St Michael's church, revealing the people who created this beautiful outcrop in central Exeter, right up to stories of the present day. Followed by cream teas at 3pm.

📯 ✨ Come & Sing Choral Evensong at St. Michael's for Michaelmas! ✨

💛 We are so excited to welcome singers of all voice parts to join the choir for this special service, continuing our parish celebrations of the Feast of Michaelmas and the Archangel Michael.

📍Sunday 4th October; registration at 2pm for an afternoon of singing, Evensong at 6pm

🎶 Conductor Anthony Musson will take singers through an afternoon of glorious music by titans of the Anglican choral tradition; Noble, Bruckner, Balfour Gardiner, Rossini and Faure, with traditional plainchant from the 8th century.

📜 Music and refreshments will be provided and there will be a drinks reception after the service! 🥂

A very big thank you to everyone who came to celebrate the Assumption of Our Lady at St Michael's last Saturday. We were blessed with a very beautiful service of wonderful liturgy, music and sermon.
There has been so much music, artwork, poetry and architecture created through the inspiration of the Assumption. Here is a fabulous fresco by Antonio de Coreggio, which decorates the dome in Parma Cathedral, Italy. Correggio signed the contract for the painting on November 3, 1522 and it was finished in 1530.
