Coronavirus Update 17th March 2020

Dear All

The Methodist Church has just updated its advice on how we should proceed in the coming weeks. Please read and take note of what is being said: -

As you will see there will be no church services, meetings or gatherings for the coming weeks. If individual churches wish to open their churches for prayer on occasion then that is at your discretion, but we must follow good procedures to protect people.

I am meeting with the Chair of District and other Superintendents tomorrow to pool our understanding. The outcome of that will be shared with the circuit tomorrow.

Wayne Grewcock has been working with The Vine to provide a weekly worship sheet for the home. It is intended that this will be on the circuit website each week. In addition, you can access a live act of worship each week from www.methodist.org.uk.

If you need to contact the office then ideally use email. Either [email protected] or [email protected]. Alternatively call me on 01392 459733 during office hours, or 01392 207785 at other times.

Please be mindful of those who will be isolated at this time and use our long-established pastoral systems to remain in phone contact with the most vulnerable.

DEVON COUNTY SHOW
REQUEST FOR HELP

Margaret Simmons (Silverton) is looking for help from 2 or 3 more people to join the team making tea/coffee and serving cakes on the Churches stand at the Devon County Show on May 23rd. The stand is open from 8-15am until 5-30pm and they need about 6 people on at a time.
You will get a ticket to get into the Show ground and then take turns with the other helpers to look around the Show.
There is a lot of standing/walking so you need to be reasonably fit but there is a lot going on and it is an ecumenical effort. The visitors are very appreciative of us being there. It really is a good advert of Churches working together.
It is usually either the Catholics and the Baptist on Thursday & Friday and the Methodist on the Saturday.
