Sunday 11th October 2026.
Harvest Sunday.
It was 'Harvest Sunday' this week in Primary Sunday School, where we said thank you to God for the Harvest, and indeed, for all the good gifts that He gives to us throughout the year.
We made this Harvest display using a giant plaited Harvest Loaf (which had two mice on it), lots of fruit and veg, and our 'Goodness Gang' fruit and veg soft toys!

Sunday 4th October 2026.
This week, our Bible story was about 'Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and the Fiery Furnace'! Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were three friends who were living in Babylon, far away from their home in Jerusalem. The king of Babylon, called King Nebuchadnezzar, made a golden statue and ordered that, when music was played, everyone must bow down and worship the statue - and anyone that didn’t bow down would be thrown into the fiery furnace! However, the three friends stayed faithful to God and refused to bow down when the music played! The king was angry that Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego had not bowed down to his statue, and he had them thrown into a fiery furnace. But when the king looked into the fire, he saw 4 people in the fire, instead of 3. God had sent an angel to protect and save the three friends. The king was amazed. He called them out from the fire and said, “Praise the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego! He sent His angel and rescued these men who serve and trust Him!”
We made these models of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in the Fiery Furnace, using a paper coffee cup and a LED tealight!

TEMPORARY CHANGE OF VENUE FOR PRIMARY SUNDAY SCHOOL, FROM SUNDAY 4th OCTOBER 2026!
Pinhoe Road Baptist Church are about to start on some building work that will give us refurbished toilets and a new roof. Our buildings will need to be closed for the duration of this work, and so it has been arranged for us to have our Sunday morning services at St James School, but still at our regular time of 10.30am to 12.00pm. This will start tomorrow, Sunday 4th October. All of our children's and young people's groups will operating as normal, including Primary Sunday School.
So please do come along to St James School for Primary Sunday School tomorrow, where we will have a classroom to ourselves for more of the fun, songs, activities and crafts that normally fill our Sunday mornings!
We are expecting the building work to last for 6 to 8 weeks.

Sunday 27th September 2026.
Our Bible story this week was called, 'Jeremiah at the Potter’s House'.
Jeremiah was a prophet who gave the people messages from God. One day, God said to Jeremiah, “Go down to the house where the potter is working. While you are there I will give my message!” When he arrived, Jeremiah saw the potter working at his wheel, shaping a pot. While Jeremiah was watching the potter, the pot that was being made went a bit wrong! However, the potter just rolled the clay into back into a ball and made it into a good, beautiful, and useful pot. Then God said to Jeremiah, “This is the message I have for you. I am like the potter and the people are like the clay.” Straightaway, Jeremiah understood the message - just like the potter, God can change and shape people’s lives into something good, beautiful, and useful, both to God and to others!
For our craft activity, we made pots out of white air-dry clay, and out of PlayDoh!

Sunday 20th September 2026.
This week we had the second story in our two part series about 'Ruth', called 'The Story of Ruth and Boaz'.
We learnt that, when Ruth and Naomi returned to the town of Bethlehem, they did not have money for food. So Ruth went out into a field to collect the left over barley that the farm workers had left behind. The field belonged to a man called Boaz. Boaz talked to Ruth while she was gathering the barley. At lunchtime, he also gave her some bread to eat and some water! Boaz was kind to Ruth and eventually they got married!
Although Ruth and Naomi had been through some difficult times, they had trusted in God, and they knew that God had been with them all the way!
For our craft activity, we planted cress! Here are two photos of our cress showing how it much it grew over one week!

Sunday 13th September 2026.
This week we started a two part series about 'Ruth', and the first part was called 'The Story of Ruth and Naomi',
We learnt that Naomi lived in the country of Moab with her two daughter-in-laws, who were called Orpah and Ruth. Their lives had not been easy. One day, Naomi decided to return to her home town of Bethlehem, which was far away in another country. Orpah stayed in Moab, but Ruth kindly insisted that she would to go to Bethlehem with Naomi.
For our craft activity we made this Scratch Art Heart Picture of Ruth being kind to Naomi!

Sunday 6th September 2026.
Our Bible story this week was about 'God's Ten Commandments'. We found out that, after they had escaped from Egypt, God wanted the Israelites to be happy, to love one another, and to love Him too. To help the Israelites to do this, God had 10 special rules that He wanted them to live by. We call these rules, ‘The Ten Commandments’. Moses went to the top of Mount Sinai where God wrote the Ten Commandments on two stone tablets.
For our craft activity we used Paint Sticks, Cotton Wool, and Paper Chain Figures to make this picture of Moses on Mount Sinai with The Ten Commandments!

Just catching up with some of the crafts we have made in the past few weeks...
Sunday 23rd August 2026.
Our Bible story this week was about 'Jesus and the Man who couldn't hear and couldn't speak.' We found out that a man was brought to Jesus by his friends. The man could not hear and he could not speak. Jesus touched the ears and tongue of the man, and he was healed!
We made Paper Bag Puppets of the Man who been healed, as shown in this short video (sound on!).

September Messy Church.
Thursday 17th September 2026.
Thank you to everyone that came to September Messy Church this week. Our crafts and activities were based on the Bible story where 'Saul meets Jesus on the Road to Damascus'. We found out that, after the first Easter, many people believed in the risen Jesus and became Christians. However, there were some people who were not happy about this at all. In fact, a man called Saul set about rounding up as many Christians as he could find, and he put them in prison. One day, Saul travelled to the city of Damascus to find any Christians who were living there. While Saul was on the way to Damascus, there was suddenly a very bright light. Then Saul heard a voice speaking to him! The voice said, “Saul, why are you against me?” Saul asked “Who are you, Lord?”, and the voice answered, “I am Jesus, now go into the city. Someone there will tell you what you must do.” When Saul stood up, he found that he could not see. And this is how Saul met Jesus for the first time! Saul’s men helped him get to Damascus where he met a Christian called Ananias, and after 3 days his sight returned. Jesus changed Saul's heart, and Saul became a follower of Jesus too!
