Thank you to all those who came to the last session of our most recent Alpha course last night. Great to explore things together, plus eat nice cake. Also "Coffee Drop In" ran earlier that day and we are thankful to all who came.

In this talk "Is serving God worth it?", the speaker addresses cynicism and apathy when justice seems delayed, drawing from Malachi 3:13โ€“4:6 to affirm that God notes the faithful in a "scroll of remembrance" and will one day distinguish the righteous (who frolic like calves under the "sun of righteousness" with healing) from the wicked facing judgment like stubble in a furnace. The core message is that serving God is absolutely worth it, as He keeps His promisesโ€”evidenced by Christ's comingโ€”and will bring ultimate freedom from evil. Practically, God's people are urged to reject half-heartedness, live expectantly for Christ's return, and turn to Him for mercy, knowing Jesus bore the curse on our behalf.
Malachi 3 v 13 - 4 v 6

This talk emphasizes the Lord's unchanging nature ("I the Lord do not change") and His gracious call, "Return to me and I will return to you, says the Lord Almighty," despite humanity's tendency to turn away and rob God of first place through self-centered living. The emptiness of independence is contrasted with the promise of blessingโ€”"test me... and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven"โ€”fulfilled ultimately through Jesus, who redeems us from sin's curse. The practical application is to surrender one's whole life to Christ without cleaning up first, putting God first to experience His transformative grace and provision, as seen in examples of those who were baptised in the service that morning.

Thank you to all who came on Sunday, and to the Lord! It was an immense privilege to celebrate the dedication of baby Noah, the baptism of his dad Connor, the baptism of Debbie, and to have lunch together. Then in the evening we had a further baptism of Suzanne in support of Ruxley Church who asked if they could use our baptistry.

In Malachi, God grows weary of His people's complaints that He tolerates evildoers and ignores justice (Mal. 2:17), so He promises to send a messenger and appear like a refiner's fire to purify His people, exposing workers of evil, oppressors of the poor, and unjust employers (Mal. 3:1-5). True holiness isn't 'self-congratulatory worship' or 'church numbers' but a changed life tested by fire, as modeled by Pastor Lamb's 20-year imprisonment for refusing state control. The call is to stop whining, invite God's purifying work in daily living, and recognize that in Christ we are made right with God and should live out our lives accordingly.

Thank you to all the Dads and Little Ones who came to Dads & Toddlers (Men Behaving Dadly) yesterday, despite the warm weather. We hope the big fans helped cool people down. Thank you to the Bacon & Sausage chef too!

In this talk on one of Jesus' "I AM" sayings, the speaker highlights that in John 14 v 6 Christ says that He alone is the way, the truth, and the life โ€”the only path to the Fatherโ€”obtained uniquely through His death on the cross, His resurrection, and His offer of relationship with God. This talk looks at Christ's statement and the practical implications.
